Double or oversized??? Can two people sleep in an oversized?

I started with an oversize tent cot, and later upgraded to the double. (Both are the flat-ceiling models, before the new headroom-enhancing "dome" was introduced.)

For me, the 32"-wide oversize is too cozy for two adults. But it depends how much overlap and body-stacking you're up for. The 52" double has more than enough width for two, but there's one catch: a center support running lengthwise down the middle of the cot. You definitely don't want to be sleeping on top of that. So, with two people, you're either crammed together in the oversize, or separated by the structural chastity-barrier in the double.

Another aspect to consider with the double is how huge it is: almost 3' x 5' folded. It won't even fit in the back of my Defender. Of course, the trade-off with both models is that, while not very compact to store, either takes literally about a minute to set up.

Definitely have to go with the double. I have the new enhanced ceiling model but it still requires you to lie down to put on pants etc. For my set up, I as well use a quick set up screen tent and put the tent cot inside the screen room. Double bug and dirt catcher.

as good a idea as these seam to be they are just bulky as all hell to transport.

infact the few rover guys I know that bought them nolonger really take thiers with them on trips.

I say get a real tent or a rooftop tent...the tentcot is just a total compromise

Rooftops are pretty sweet, the only downside I have experienced with mine is that they are a bitch to load and unload from the rack. If you don't mind driving around with it up there, they are sweet. Mine sets up in very little time and has plenty of room.

Yep. I bought the oversize tent cot, used it once, and decided it was too small deployed. So I bought the double, used it once, and decided it was too huge folded.

(And somehow that line of logic led me to what I use now, a much-huger trailer-top Howling Moon tent....)

Thinking of buying the double wide cot for this weekend.

The folded size really shouldn't be a problem, as I have a roof rack.

Just wondering how these things repel rain without the optional rain fly.

With the new domed design, you'd probably be fine in a light/brief rain without the fly. But if you're expecting any real rain, I'd definitely include it.

Theoretically speaking, lets say you are camping and a girl named, I don't know, how about Camel shows up. And lets say you have a friend named, ummmmm Garrett. If Garrett and Camel had a tent cot, could they realistically have sex in the double without it flipping over?

Camel and Garrett would have to be getting very gymnastic inside the tent cot to actually flip it over. It's wide enough to be very stable. Now maybe if Camel's friend Sierra showed up to help....

The challenge for Camel, Garrett, and Sierra would actually mostly be that center support bar running lengthwise down the middle of the cot. You might try something like an air mattress, or an arrangement of padding, to make it more comfortable moving from side to side.

Picked up a Double tent cot today at the Bass Pro Shop in Lawerenceville, GA. 269.00 came with the rain fly and carry bag. Fucking thing is big and heavy, but I dig the concept.

Sleeping platform in the back of the D1. Sturdy, Made out of 3/4 plywood that can easily support 2 with raucus activity. Folds out to 5'6" (I'm 6'1" but still manage to put feet between the seats). Egg crate padding for comfort and plenty of space for me and the lady. Used it this weekend... had to double up on the sleeping bags because temp in the teens. Total cost approx $45 and about 2 hours to build.
