Went to a sporting goods store with the wife, parked in the very first spot, 30 feet from the door out front, went in and came out in less than 5 mins and found a smashed passenger window and her purse janked from the range rover. There were people in and out of the store and it would suprise me if someone didn't see it. the crazy part is they took the only CC in there and went straight to a gas station and pumped gas. I called and cancelled it before it even charged the amount, he said it did a proxy bill of $1 or something......

I think we got followed and they waited, there was a suspicious car that folowed us thinking back.

I already put in a request for the survailence tape from the store and my dad knows the owner of the gas station where it was used very well, so we can get the tapes there too.
I only have liability insurance.... im not looking foreward to buying a window and the trim piece that goes around it along with cleaning glass up from all over and in the vents...

I did a police report...

I just got it going to give to the wife too today....

Damn, sorry to hear about that.

Tough lesson learned though...never leave anything that might even hint of value in plain sight in a vehicle.

Beverly HIlls
when i moved into this apartment with my girlfriend 3 years ago, we marvelled at the families strolling the streets. . . old ladies carried flowers to and fro. People said hello to one another. The flowers were in bloom in good old Beverly Hills and we though "ah. how wonderful. let us go forth and furnish our apartment."

We went forth and came back. Kristen went to the supermarket to grab some stuff and i hopped in the shower.

I took it for granted that we lived in such a bubble - and my whole life growing up in NYC - i let my guard down for a second and didnt lock the front door to my apartment. my wallet, with a few hundred bucks was set down on the coffee table with my phone and keys, etc.

I get out of the shower, go to my phone b/c it was buzzing and my wallet was gone. . .

That sucks, My buddy just had his truck broken into. They tried prying the door lock with screw driver (causing more hell to repair) and then couldnt so they smashed the window in and the alarm went off and they started running. Didnt get anything but he had to have paint and body work done and a new window.

Also my aunt had her window bashed in and they jacked some purse she had with pretty much nothing of value but a credit card. turns out the dip shits first went and bought gas, then early next morning (before she found her car broken into) they PAID THERE ELECTRIC BILL! :smilelol:

The cops, had video from gas station and the address and went and arrested there ass's.

thanks guys. It happened in bright daylight too.

Yeah, i could care less about the purse, like you said, there was only one CC and no cash, and a few gift cards. But the PITA of dealing with it is what makes it kinda unplesent. I hope the gas station has them on video. I am going to get dark tint on the glass though. Police was really nice about it though, so that was good. It was kind of a blessing that they didnt get the other keys or gps or anything else in the car, or her drivers license as it was on her.

That sucks man. I leave my windows open with my iPod in plain view all of the time and never really think twice about it, if I'm in a bad area I might put the ipod under the seat. I figure that its not even worth closing the windows in my XJS because anyone with half a brain can see the exposed screws for the mirror assembly which, once removed, allows access to the door lock!

Thieves won't bother with anything as high-tech and time consuming as a screwdriver. A rock through your window is so much easier....

The best answer for thievery like the stories above is bullets and death. Go ahead and call it an inappropriate or unproportionate response but I'll stand by my statement all day long. I've had windows smashed, stereos stolen, credit cards racked up within hours, etc. I don't want the people that do these things on my planet, they should be killed. I don't give a flying fuck about their disadvantaged youth, their sub-par education, their chemical dependencies, etc. Fuck 'em, kill 'em.

i said it about my hi-lift, and i'll say it again.

i've spent thousands of dollars/hours on my truck. i take an assault on my truck as an assault on my castle. i would chase that fucker down & throttle them.

unless the police are around :D

Well what I don't understand is the people who try to rationalize appropriate responses to criminals...if someone is mugging you and they just want your wallet, these people will say, "Just give them your wallet, killing someone because they are stealing your wallet isn't right." Bullshit, I say. What if they want your wallet & watch? Am I allowed, by your standards, to kill them then? Probably not. What if they want my wallet, watch, and car? Oh, I have insurance, death is overkill there too. What if they want my wife too? In that case we'll have to discuss what their goals are with my wife. Do they plan on killing her? Or maybe just a little rape, or maybe they just want to talk. I guess the safe thing to do is just to wait for the criminal to decide and then we'll read the police report to see what happened. Then we'll "take them to court." Yes, that is the safe play. Fuck that noise, kill them and save us all some time, hassle, and money. I can also guarantee that the criminal will never perpetrate another crime.

X2,

a dead criminal stands no chance of being a repeat offender.

Its their option to choose life or death...I will let them know of their options.

speaking of douche bag druggies:

i had a cop come over to my place last winter & explain that they have been monitoring a house nearby. apparently they suspected them of running drugs & whatever. they told me they tracked an individual's footprints through the snow from the backyard of the crack-den to where my truck was parked. we share a mutual field. believe me this was one of the most bizarre things i'd heard from a cop. he told me to call him if anything happened. sure enough there were tracks all around my truck that did not belong to me that went strait into the field.

I definitely threw the MLB lumber in the truck for the next few weeks just in case.

several years back in philthadelphia with some friends. I left my new leather jacket in the car on the rear floor and these fuckers still saw it and grabbed it. They did leave the 2 laptops sitting underneath.

I had some bastard rip through my convertible top and reach in to unlock the door. They managed to break the center console open to try the trunk button even with the alarm going off. I think they were after the rims/tires on the car, but can't be sure.
