Ticking sound behind dash with burning electrical smell

On a drive yesterday, it was a cold morning, I had the heater on and seat heaters. Started hearing a clicking behind the dash that seemed to be coming from behind the center console maybe even toward the glove box area. Burning electrical smell seemed to come from same area. Clicking stopped when heater was turned off. Turned off seat heaters and headed home. I have not driven it since in fear of catching fire.
Any ideas on what I should look at first?

I will definitely do that but the ticking sounded like a relay or some electrical component not an obstruction in the blower.

I've always had a slight tick behind the cluster if you really focus on it.
I would unplug the seat heaters. They will deteriorate and burn a hole through your seat and/or your ass at some point.

Oooh. Good idea. My wife likes the seat heaters to keep her toosh nice and warm but if they just cause problems in the long run then I’m with you. Disconnect it is.
