Just built my sliders and was wonder pros and cons of putting nerfs on them. They sit flush with the doors and I know that the female would appreciate a step to get in. They are 2X2 so not much of one now

ooh, good point.

michaels, who made my sliders, made them flush to the body just like yours. his sliders are wonderful, i love them, but his version 2.0 stick out from the body about 3 more inches or so. they look really good, they don't stick out nearly as bad as some of the pre-fabbed sliders w/ nerfs as you can order, but they stick out just enough to stand on and rock the truck from side to side. i really like his new design.

just some food for thought.

neither. make a quick buck off your current ones and go this route. looks much cleaner to me. they protect the lower doors and act as a platform to counter weight the truck when it decides to slide into embankments.

This should be a good thread, some people like the nerf and some dont. Depending on how they mount and how strong they are, if you come down and catch that nerf it can act like a lever and push the slider up and crush your door or prevent it from opening. I finally got around to finishing up mine and am putting them on in the morning...they have nerfs.

I am not really worried about them hitting the doors they are frame mounted.

They look odd, and they increase the probability that your sliders will twist under load. They may prvent a dent or two in some random situations. But chicks dig body damage. Leave them off

I would nerf them especially if you have kids or shorter people getting in and out. They are also nice to stand on if you are tying something down to your roof rack. When I installed my 2" RTE lift it made it quite a step up to get in for my wife and kid. I already had some Manik nerfs on it. About the grip tape idea I tried some on my nerf bars because the plastic inserts broke and everytime someone would get out they would sand part of their leg off on the tape.

I like the nerfs myself.

As others have said, having something to stand on can be handy in more than one situation. I guess it really depends on how and where you wheel, but for me being able to have people stand on them and add weight to one side or the other far out weights the danger of bending them up into your door.

I have rte nerf's now... if I had to do it over again, I'd get it without them... I've hit some rocks hard with them, and theyve bent up into the door.. I've seen it happen to at least 2 or 3 other people while on the trail too.. If you're going to do nerfs, do them as small as possible.

I was wondering how much of the tab on the bottom of the sill box I can safely remove without structural damage. I know that the body moves independently of the frame and I do not have much clearance between the sliders and the tab
