I'm certainly not one to suggest that this will be even remotely the same, and I'm not looking forward to it, but they at least picked one person I thought should be considered, in light of the shopping around.

Jodie Kidd has been there before a few times, and worked the guest slot well. I think better choices for the other two would be Jay Kay and Jonathan Ross, though. Those three could bring a new kind of chemistry to the table.

They could have re-branded the whole thing, instead of just replacing the presenters that drew the audience to begin with. It would have been a better way to go about things.

Even so, I think my picks would have been a bit better.

I seem to recall Jay Kay refusing to attempt filling those shoes, but it would have been interesting. Ross Might have bitten, though.

agree with the others, definitely will not be the same. Look at the American version; same concept but the thing sucks IMO. Those fratty types (yeah I know one is a Speedy Racer) just don't cut it for me.

With TGUS, the studio format failed miserably. The track for SIARPC sucked (Well, it was one step better than Jay Leno's 'race track'), the banter between them sucked and the stars weren't all that good. . I can see why they ditched it and went with the feature only format.

Top Gear America reminds me of Jackass.

I agree that Top Gear U.K. is over, but it could have been spun in another direction. Perhaps it will be.

Many millions will tune in expecting a spectacular failure, so it's a vast opportunity. Will they take it? Will the BBC pull a rabbit out of a hat, or are they too confident in the numbers they've already seen?

I'm waiting to see what Clarkson, May, and Hammond do. They might just be tired, and ready to act their age. It's a heavily scripted show, but those guys have been through some shit, and they weren't exactly spry to begin with.

Agree with what you've all said above, but honestly, I've thought Clarkson, Hammond, and May were looking like they weren't really enjoying it anymore. IDK why, but something had changed over the last few seasons. Maybe it was the frequent episodes where one of them wouldn't be on for entire segments? Whatever it was, I found myself wondering more than once whether they weren't going to hang it up...

Hammond still struggles with the head injury from that jet car crash . He said he has a hard time parking a car and not getting to close to stuff around it . Clarkson was always willing to push the limits of what he could say . Like the bridge with a slope on it .

Head injuries will fuck your shit up.

It's actually been incredibly difficult for me to write anything for a while now. It takes a lot of work to pump out even a single sentence that makes any sense at all. I've been forcing myself to do it. Everything becomes more difficult.

People have it worse, though. I've been hit a lot, but Hammond got it all at once. No telling what his life is like.

I've still got a thousand horsepower, but now those bald tires I was running are flat. Got some nasty scans back a while ago showing what's happened recently and how it affected what happened in the past. I was already jacked up.

Going to see the surgeon soon to see if anything can be done soon, actually. The confusion is frustrating, as is the difficulty in communication, but the nausea is flat-out infuriating. My guts were already fucked up, and now I feel sick all the time.

I was kind of keeping it to myself for a while, but I eventually figured there might be some sense in keeping it on the table instead of under it.

Cheers,

Bah. I'm sure something will work out in my head. I ain't feeling sorry for myself or anything, I'm just annoyed.

Thanks though! :D

So long as a conventional American broadcasting organization doesn't get hold of whatever show they create and screw it all up, they can't really go wrong. It's just going to be good.

They were at Top Gear a long time, and I'm sure all three had plenty of ideas to freshen things up even more that they weren't able to use at a certain point.

What I fear is that "occasional interview" format that has plagued many American programs after it became popular on reality shows. It's a danger, but I think these guys have been around long enough to spot it.

Netflix or Hulu would be a good move, I think, if they want a new show. The only problem there is losing viewers without access to high speed internet.

There is no doubt in my mind that the "new" Top Gear will be a miserable and empty shell of what it once was. It might - and notice that I say might - be as bad if not a hair worse than the US version which is an absolute abortion on television.

I'm sorry to hear your having trouble Kennith . I asked my wife who is a speech language pathologist why someone would have had so many head injuries . She said it should be obvious to me that the first injury would make one very prone to another . I wish you the best .

I love that wording.

Any idiot who gets knocked in the head is certainly likely to be foolish enough to let it happen again.

I've had a lot of injuries. Just happens some missed the rest of me.

This is from someone that does feel your pain, 2 strokes by the age of 42 will do that.

And nausea/vertigo thing is an absolute P.I.T.A.

But I'm much better now!

Head/brain trauma is sucky.

I'm looking forward to the new show with Jezza, Cpt. Slow and the Hamster.
