So, the trucker that carried my vehicle from Florida to Virginia damaged it during shipping. I haven't looked closely, but the tow hook sure is bent. He managed to get the tow hook pointing straight at the ground. Anyone know if they're bolt on? I'm hoping it's not too tough of a fix.

Ahh...p38a...should have specified! Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that point is welded to the frame. Do not fix/use, unless you go back to the frame and weld in a new point

I had a feeling that was the case. I'm furious with the shipper. He damaged the tow hook, bumper, and lost one of my master keys. This project is off to a rough start.

Do they not have insurance?

He has insurance and will take care of it through them or out of pocket, but I feel bad that an honest guy is losing out and I'm blown that I have the hassle of dealing with an extra repair on a Rover. We all know how much love they require. Sucks he couldn't do his job and sucks that I have to deal with it. Still can't figure out how he managed to lose the key.

If you ship a p38 you should put it in access mode then pull the isolation relay ( tall one) under the drivers seat. That's as close as your gonna get to transit mode without a T4. It probably tried to rise when he tied it down.

Bang that hook straight with a big hammer. I didn't see your bumper damage but you could bang that hook straight I think. I'm kinda bummed out for your damage, I like those yellow bastards.

Those hooks should never be used for tie downs. They are tow hooks. He used them for transit and vehicle bounced enough to tear everything up. This is a lack of driver knowing how to tie down a Rover. Make them pay.

You have that backwards, they should never be used for recovery, they are for transport.

Yep, tie down points that are for shipping or on a flat bed tow vehicle.

You can use them to be "recovered" by the winch when pulling the Rover onto the flat bed, yet, for sure never a recovery point for say attaching a yank strap when the Rover is stuck.
