Toyo M/T or Yokohama M/T?

Its time for new tires for my D1. I’m running 255/85/16. This rig does significant 4wheeling throughout the Southwest, but has to drive to get there (I do not trailer my rigs). Mud terrains of various sorts are my only options. Currently running Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx. Since the Coopers are not available, my two options are Toyo and Yokohama. Thoughts on these tires? Thanks!

Toyo open country RT. I ran them for a while before my shit got stolen. My boss has them in 37s and has done all of UT, CO, AZ, NM and more I’m forgetting. And it’s his daily driver.

I run the Bfgs MT 255/85 on my current series hybrid. I love the tires so far for the street. Very quiet but I’ve only got 600 miles on it and it’s not an off-road vehicle. They seem to do pretty well on my sons D1 but they’re 285/75 and it’s been too dry to really test them out yet. Just another option for you but I’d be on the toyos out of those two. Probably better sidewalls

I see that the BFGoodrich tires are not on backorder, so that’s a possibility. What kind of longevity are you getting out of those tires with mixed highway and off-road driving? Also, how do the sidewalls and tread hold up? My Cooper tires get chunks ripped out of them really easily.

I didn’t have any luck with my Coopers. Toyo, Mickey Thompsons, or BFG KMs if you’re gonna be hard on it.

IMHO Toyo makes the toughest radials you can buy. As far as west, I had friends who would get 30-40k on them on diesel trucks with lots of towing.
