I've seen FJ's with the Koenig King C100(?) winch. If that's what you have, then you probably can, since Koenig made a kit for the Series Rovers. There were several models of the Koenig King however, a low slung and an upright, as well as some others. But I'd say odds are you can, provided you can find all the pieces. The PTO drive unit for the wince that fits to the transfer case is very difficult to find. More common are the ones that fit the crank pully. If you can't find them, you could always convert it to hydraulic power.

If you have the factory winch (the one with TEQ stamped on it) the mount wont fit and the PTO wont fit the rover t-case, but you could get a koenig ramsey bamford smith or other pto, make your own driveline and mount and you could use it. Is it worth the effort though, rover PTO winches arent that hard to get.

FWIW the PTO koenig is more comon than the engine driven version (Ive had 8 PTO koenigs and only 4 engine driven ones). The PTO is also not especially difficult to find they turn up on a regular basis as the winches are often seperated from the vehicles leaving the PTOs. In fact I think theres one on LRX and another on ebay right now.

Interesting. My experience has been just the opposite. I guess it's a matter of timming when I've looked for/bought them.

I think the fact that the PTO version is more comon stems from the fact that the engine driven one was much more expensive when new. The PTO version was 176 dollars while the engine driven one was 265ish.

That would certainly make sense.
As an aside, back in the mid 80's, when I used to repair Rovers for $$'s, I called Koenig when they were still selling parts for these to get some parts. The fella I spoke with said that they were about to discontinue even stocking the parts, that they were in the process of inventoring them, then were going to dispose of them. I asked him to send me the list when they had it complete as I was interested in buying the lot. Sadly, I never heard from them, and forgot about it. Several years later I came across the guy's name and called Koenig, but he'd left and no one at Koenig knew where the parts went. Best I could get was it was someone who buys old winch spares. So, somewhere out there are a bunch of NOS Koenig King winch parts.
