Trans and oil cooler lines

So in the process of removing my radiator (on a 2001 disco II) I for the life of me couldn’t get the transmission cooler and oil cooler lines off of their applicable heat exchangers. The Rave is pretty vague as to how this is accomplished. I am assuming these are supposed to be quick disconnects but between spraying them down with gunk be gone, to cursing at them while throwing an empty beer cans in a fit of rage :ack: I sure as heck couldn’t get them to come off. Any tips or ticks would be appreciated. I was still able to finagle the old radiator out, however I am thinking now that I would also like to change out the trans cooler and oil cooler heat exchangers as they look pretty crapped up.

You have to push on the hose while at the same time pull back on the plastic outer ring, hold, and pull both back at the same time. If they're corroded, they can be a bitch.

You don't need to take the limes loose..., jut unscrew the coolers brackets from the radiator.

like kyle said, you really don't need to pull the lines. you may have to bend them a little.

if you want to take the ends off, which is nice for preventative maintenance reasons, soak the ends with penetrating oil. pb blaster is good but this stuff is better (my opinion) http://www.bavauto.com/fland.asp?pa..._source=8902&gclid=CM3y777zqL0CFcx9OgodfHAA9w

after the oil has soaked in for a couple minutes, push and pull the hoses gently until they move freely, then push the ends towards the coolers then while holding the lines towards the cooler, pull the plastic flange towards the hose and gently pull the hose off the cooler.
