I have posted on other boards, so far no info as of yet, so here it goes.
I have noticed as of late the need to add oil to transfer case, about 1/4-1/2 pt for every 3K miles.
Called my local mechanic. He said typically it is the intermediate shaft seal. That is the input from ****** to t-case. WOW, lots of $$ to repair, $785.
Question is, can anyone confirm that this particular seal is usually the culprit?
Funny to me, it is splash lubricated, above oil line, but see no signs of leak other than the need to add oil during regular maintenance tasks.
If I had a T-case adapter plate, I would have already addressed the issue.
Thanks to all in advance.
