Has anyone tried turbo charging a Defender 90? How much more power did it get you? What did it do to the gas mileage? About how much did it cost to do?

I have a blower from a ford thunder bird super coupe
the ford was a 3.8 v6 and the blower is remotly mounted over a valve cover
then piped into the intake after going through a interecooler.
On a 4.0 it could be mounted over the right side valve cover and move the alt to the empty spot where a distributor would be

The prices I have been quoted so far for the 4.0 to the 4.6 are $11k to $13K. Turbo deisel would probably be $20K and I don't think it would give me any more speed on the highway, just more low range power. Is that correct?
