Do the turn signal wires travel through the rotary coupler? I have my whole dash out for a long term repair and i want to get them working for a while. I did just hook up the cluster to get speed and fuel but they still don't work. I even plugged in a bench tested one I have and same result.

You just mean the wires that plug into the turn signal assembly, correct? If I remember correctly those are just a plug from the harness which runs up the steering column. The steering wheel just has a pass through for the cruise control buttons and rotary coupler lead. Have some pictures at home that I can upload tonight to confirm.

I have it all torn apart anyway right now, no need for pics. i just need to figure out what has to be hooked up for them to work. A guy flipped me off for not using my turn signal the other day. I thought no new cars came with them any more, no one around here uses them.

Now we're getting somewhere. Take apart the stalk and clean all the contacts. They get gummed up and stop working. Or try a good used stalk.
Maybe not. This all worked when I took it off to remove the dash. Now with some of the parts back in place, it won't work. I am trying to figure out if this is a coincidental failure or something missing that is not plugged in right now. I did test the turn signal stalk with a meter and got the correct results.

if memory serves me right the turn signals don't work if you have the emergency flashers disconnected from the hazard switch located near the clock.
