Yeah I’m asking because I got my disco for $3k not much rust just some on the body near the alpine seals. But believe the head gasket is blown. Seeing radiator fluid leak from the gasket. Wondering if I should replace the head gasket or look at a full rebuild because I plan to do a year long trip living in the disco. How much would a Cummins swap run with a 6 speed?
I’d guess $20,000 plus for the Cummins if a shop does it. On your 4.0, unless you slipped a liner which would be odd on a 4.0, they do pretty well with an upper end rebuild. If all it is doing is leaking coolant that is probably all it needs. You probably don’t absolutely need a valve job but it is not much extra money since the heads will already be off. That is what I would do.

I have seen inline bleeder Ts installed. Anyone consider a filler T instead? I haven’t yet measured the hose; is 1-1/2 inch correct?

Anyone use one of these or have a recommendation?

I've never had any trouble filling those. I leave the plug out of the top of the radiator and fill the reservoir till it's coming out the hole in the top of the radiator. I empty them from that plug too. I sink a piece of rubber hose to the bottom of the radiator and syphon it into a drain pan.
