I'm looking at a DII and, unfortunately, can't be there in person to check it out since it's out of state. Here's a list I put together for a mechanic to look at:

Coolant Pressure Check/Expansion Tank
Compression Check
Oil Pressure Check
Water Pump and Viscous Fan
Power Steering Fluid and Hoses
Diff Fluid
Air Conditioning
Wheel Hubs and Bearings for play
Drive Shaft Play
Engine Codes
Suspension Bushings
Tie Rod Ends
Windows and Door locks
Cruise Control

Truck does have CDL and no sunroofs. It recently had Valve Cover Gaskets, Oil Pan Gasket, and Transfer Case Gasket replaced.

Anything else I may be missing that should definitely be added?

Thanks

Yes scan for DTC's and ask him what he just cleared if the readyness tests are incomplete.
Definitely have the mechanic annotate the trouble codes on their shop's letterhead. You can use that as a another bargaining tool for the seller to reduce the selling price.

Use an ABS-capable code reader to check for any stored Three Amigos codes.

Check to confirm that the PRND321 indicators illuminate properly, both the instrument panel LCD display and the shifter bezel red LEDs. If they don't it may indicate that the XYZ switch needs to be adjusted, rebuilt or replaced.

I don't know how, without going to a lot of trouble, you're going to have a mechanic check oil pressure given the configuration of sensors on a DII.

I don't think I'd bother checking the hubs for play, but I would check the ball joints for play.

Going to do my best to ask him to do these things. He's not familiar with Rovers at all and he was the best option I could find from this far away.

Don't forget to get some pictures of the rear frame. Not sure where the truck is located but it is a known trouble point on the DII as it rusts quite readily
