Even in the river, its mostly bass fishing. Not sure there are any trout until you head further west into the Mountains.

Too warm for trout but bass are fun on the fly. Never ventured to the river but you'd benefit from a canoe/kayak on the lake. I think South Mountain State Park an hour or two west is your best bet for trout

Bass will work, just wanted to see which setup and flies to bring, thanks!

Have never fished Uwharrie or Badin but I've always had success with large buggers, poppers and other large streamers on a 9' 5/6wt. Sinking line will make a world of difference on the lake. If not, have plenty of weight to put on the line

How deep are the stripers typically? Wouldn't mind getting into those... I do have an 8-9IPS full sink line that gets real deep

Stop by the Outpost. Ask for Chris (owner). He'll tell ya all you need. They have a decent supply of fishing gear too. Some sweet Zebco's!

Also if anyone wants some good BBQ in small or large quantities he can hook you up. We have a BBQ one night for each of our military trainings we do there and it's damn good.

Garrett, are you doing the 36hours of uwharrie?

August 11-14. I honestly don't know this far out. I was asked to participate, but will have to see as work progresses this year. It has been and is going to be a VERY busy year for mil training.

I am doing the VOT this year. Along with Michael Hussy. I'm having Toyota ADD right now - I want a '98 Taco with a canvas back. I feel like that annoying girl Varuca in Willy Wonka.
