Hi,

I just purchased a Disco2 and have a dumb question. When checking the autotransmission fluid level, is the vehicle supposed to be level or is it supposed to be on some sort of ramp? The article says to raise the vehicle, but do you raise both front and rear? Also, when I drained the autobox, I only got out 4 quarts. Is that normal?

Thanks

the vehicle needs to be level, engine running at cold start in neutral...the four quarts is normal as the rest is in the torque converter which you cant get out w/out power flush or disassembly. you can change the fluid 3-4 times in a week or so to get the old fluid circulated out of converter.

is it recomended to perform the power flush at the dealer?
the idea of changing the fluid several times in a week is very good too, thanks Anthony.
