My problem is that it isn't truly concealed, and I have a feeling the police in my state wouldn't like it too much.

Yeah, the fact that it's really out in the open is one of the negatives that came to mind. I suppose you can put it in a more surreptitious location than poking up next to your shifter, but it'll still be uncovered

I stopped putting my pistol in my center cosole. I always end up leaving it in there. I leave my 380 in the center console of my D2 for weeks at a time after a wheeling trip.

My HUGE dislike about that design is the trigger not being covered. Put a trigger guard holster on it, and tie it off so that when the pistol is drawn off this mount, the holster pops off too.

i had an undermount in my car(mounts under the steering column). pretty nice and out of sight. the gun didnt stay there when not driving though. in my current car, it fits nicely beside my seat.

I'm not sure I'd trust that 2 inch mounting plate in concert with any easily accessible trim in a reasonably modern vehicle without some serious thought.

Sooner or later, some moron is going to screw that to his center console, shove a stacked 92FS on the rod, and find out how bad an idea it was when he wanders into oncoming traffic in a car with 27 fucking airbags.

Well, there's that, and then there's the fact that it's too exposed to others. Fat lot of good it'll do if someone holds it down or draws it for you...

Cheers,

I had a client who had one of those.

He had a wheel fall off a mile or so from the shop.

While we were waiting for my towing company to show up, a Sheriff shows up, walks up to my client's truck and instantly has his Glock in his hand shoving it in his waistband (for his safety).

All the while, mine was safely tucked into MY waistband!

My client-once his sidearm had been returned after a heavy grilling by the LEO-asked me to move it to a more concealed place after I finished fixing the wheel that had fallen off.
