TAPA $6500 long block, no core fees,. 3 week build time. Gives me time to find a shop to do the R&R. Inquired with local shop who had worked on it before and explained I would be supplying engine. Several hours later got a reply from the owners hired help that it was not interested that it was can of worms. I guess I didn’t learn the first time they worked on it they kept it a week for a no power, drive ability problem. When I wasn’t getting updates I consulted Disco Web and found that ECU was burnt. Bought a matched unit from Roverguy and had shop install and problem solved. Thanks for the info.

I happened upon them on a craigslist ad in Louisville while dicking around. Just happened to see your post and remembered them. Glad to help, hope all goes well.

Decided against TAPA too much cash up front $6500 and they don’t build reliability into the engine. Found another shop closer to home IE Rovers, Lake Elsinore Ca. Pricing is similar but with IE Rovers more “ bang for the buck”

I have an 80k mile D1 4.0GEMs that I bought from a Rover mechanic from City Garage, in the Boston area. Before he shipped to me I had him do the head gaskets, front cover and pan seals. It’s available I’d just need to strap it to a pallet and drop it at Fastenal for someone. $2,000.
