I'm running Kingsbourne wires on relatively old plugs (about 25k miles, maybe more depending on how honest the salesman was).

I had one O2 sensor replaced after it was ruined by leaking valve covers last year (valve covers also replaced, new wires installed at that time).

MAF is original as far as I know.

SES light has only been on once before - that was last year when O2 sensor went south.

I'll have this in the shop next week to diagnose these issues (if they persist) and also get 2nd opinion on coolant loss (possible HG job).

Good times.

You replaced the wires and not the plugs? C'mon man, you know better.

Suggestion (before taking to shop): Clear the codes, and see what comes back. Maybe open the MAF/O2 sensor electrical connections and blast with MAF cleaner to remove and water that may have ingressed. Then reseal with dielectric grease (note to self - do this).

Something isn't right. Check the MAF like others mentioned. I went through water almost up to my grill this summer and no codes.

Pay attention to how it shifts....if not shifting quite right taking a long time to get into high it's the MAF. I had same issue last time I was out. First big puddle truck died but did start right away, continued on and later that day light was on and truck was shifting funny.

First thing to check is those two little tabs on the back side of the lower half of you airbox. You can get one folded inward and think you have your airbox shut and tight but there will still be an air gap there allowing all kinds of trash in there. This is very common on DII's

Down to one code now - P0150 bank 2 first 02 sensor. Bought some MAF cleaner and diaelectric grease this weekend but didn't have time to mess with it. Cleared the code yesterday and it hasn't come back...we will see.

gem, I've been taking my D2 to a local place for oil changes called Sun Valley Imports in Tempe. But I'm hesitant to take it back because they originally told me that my coolant loss was due to leaking throttle valve. Then when I took it back again they said it was head gaskets. When I said WTF, last time you said it was throttle valve, all they said was "I don't know what the former service tech told you but now I'm telling you it's HG." Needless to say, my confidence level with them is not over the top.

I've also taken it to Rovertechs in Scottsdale which is definitely geared specifically to Rovers and has excellent equipment and mechanics. September 2009 they fixed a coolant leak at the throttle body heater (which is NOT leaking again). They also replaced leaking valve cover gaskets and the same P0150 bank 2 upstream O2 sensor that's giving me trouble now. The leaking valve cover had soaked the O2 sensor. Since they were tearing into it for the valve cover gaskets, I also gave them a set of Kingsbourne wires and 2 boxes of Champion copper core plugs. When I went to pick up the Disco, there were my copper cores sitting on the counter with my invoice - they said that they ONLY use Land Rover recommended parts. When I said WTF, you just installed my non-Land Rover Kingsbourne wires, all I got was blank stare. I really wish they had called me before they buttoned everything back up and said it's ready for pick up - I would have told them to just throw in the super-duper gold-plated Bosch's. This answers Sgaynor's comment about the stupidity of replacing wires but not plugs....I completely agree. Again, I'm not feeling overly-inspired by these independent shops. But I will be taking it back to Rovertechs to see about the coolant loss and possible HG job.

My "new" airbox cover should be arriving from Drillbit today. I'll make sure it's all sealed up tight - I know what flyfisher is saying about the plastic tabs getting all fucked up.

Congrats man.

thats great news

I'd put a new sensor in.
or, swap o2 sensors and see if the code follows the sensor.

I'd also do the plugs for good measure as it sounds they havent been done lately, its such and easy job, 40 minutes tops, at 5 mins a plug to screw and unscrew.

I think I was getting that code on my 03 I would replace that 02 sensor about once a year. I bought a couple of bad sensors to test it. I chased this for awhile. My plug had oil in it so when I put the new one in I put the grease on it and havent had a problem since.

Quick - I'm at hardware store, anyone know size of tamper-proof torx bit for MAF bolts? Is it T25?

You can break the tit off on the inside with a small screwdriver....Well....I have before. And that was before i realized I had the bit, but have no idea where it is now. go figure.

Yep, not standard T25 safety torx. Time to break out the BFH and a chainsaw. And then a needlenose to clean things up. Thanks gents.

X2. Especially if you're already fooling around with the MAF. Disconnect the intake at the throttle body, and you're 1/4 of the way there.

I do them every spring. Super easy. (Need: 3/8" ratchet, extensions and swivel)

Yeah I finally got a clue when I was blowing out my filter after a dusty trail and had mud on TOP of my filter. Duh Huh! OFFROVER found the tab that was bent over.
