Water in Transmission

I forgot to write it down but I am pretty sure I changed the filter and fluid a couple of years ago and would have put less than 1000 miles since. But now I have water in the transmission fluid.

Do I need to go ahead and change the filter or can I be lazy and just drain and refill?

Someone correct me if I am wrong. But I just did a transmission filter and it is just a fine screen not really a traditional filter. Should be fine if you just flush the fluid a few times. Just changing the fluid once wont get the water out of the torque converter.

Yea, changing fluid is much easier than the filter. I don't know if I am doing it wrong but everytime I have changed the filter, I have to pull the structural crossmember out to get the pan off. Very annoying.

If you have water in the trans, then I wouldn't count on it lasting very long. The water causes the clutch packs to disintegrate. How did you get water in there?
