Water ingress D2

I'm getting some water coming in during especially heavy rains on my new-to-me '04 D2. I've looked around and can't really find any gaps, missing weatherstripping near the gutters, the usual suspects. The Sunroof drains seem fine too. Any ideas?

dagone-somebody I know with a '04 D2 had a similar issue on the drivers side headliner-cant remember what/if they ever resolved it

I cant understand, if the sunroof is closed-what does the drain matter? Do the seals just leak that much?

The sunroofs are not designed to seal 100%. If the drain tubes are broken at the tub, you will have water in your headliner

Every car I've ever heard of has a sun roof that leaks, even good cars like Honda. That's why they have drains. On my 1986 Accord, I could leave the roof open an inch or so and still not get water into the car.

I have the same issue with mine, I crawled underneath and removed the nipples on the bottom of the sunroof drains and water poured out for a good 3-4 mins because they were all clogged up. I now go under there every 6 months or so and clean them out with a screwdriver and the same thing usually happens again. My headliner now only gets damp when there is lots of rainfall. Not sure what else I can do to remedy the issue.

Really?

My old Lexus doesn't leak.
You can see ancient, dry dust along the inside---I doubt it even has drains!

1 of 3 things happened.

1) The plastic nipple (that the drain hose connects to) broke away from the sunroof cassette. happened to one of my trucks.

2) The drain tube disconnected for some reason.

3) The tube is backed up which means you need to try to blow compressed air thru the tube THEN drill a hole in the door sill so the water will drain out.

Why dont you remove the front portion of the headliner, find out EXACTLY what is going on, and FIX it.

Will do. I guess the drain tubes issue isn't a whole lot different than the D1.

Where the heck did you find the other end of the sunroof drains assuming the front. I can't find them and I am not without skills, tools, documentation...

The OP's picture is exactly the same thing I have going on. It's the right hand sunroof drains. I can snake them all the way down to the rubber fitting but they drain slowly so in heavy rain I get the same exact wet headliner.

mine leaked in the same spot; turned out to be from the gaskets between the roof and the rails

x2. I don't have sunroofs and I was getting water that would come out by the rearview mirror. I pulled the roof rails put some sealant around the mounting holes and put it all back together. No leaks since doing this.

Yes the front. They are in the trans tunnel, one on either side of the tranny. Make sure you do it when the engine is cold, you have to jamb your hand/arm way up there beside the cat on side and between the driveshaft and cat on the other side. I found where they were via a quick search on here about the same wet headline issue.

Those are the drain tubes for the evaporator, which has absolutely nothing to do with a sunroof.

Nope,

The water drips out no where near there. It comes out generally in the area behind the front mud flaps on our rig. But it wets out a large area as it drips out so it is hard to figure out the source. I saw a picture on another site where they might be under the plastic cowl piece on the far left and right. Going to check that today.
