Weird door situation

So in replacing all the actuators in my doors (the main 4 anyway) I found that I was able to get the rear 2 working perfectly. I managed to get the front pass side to not open at all (still working on that one) and the driver's side, if you lock then unlock, you can only open it from the outside. Once I open it from the outside, it's back to working normally. I did this several times and I used the central locking button to lock it. Is this somehow normal? Again, if it is unlocked and opens from the outside, the inside works perfectly too. Only once you lock it does it act up.

Also, on the pass side, it is unlocked and gets a full pull from the interior handle and nothing opens. I still need to check to make sure the outside handle is working on it. Fun to do when the door is closed. Grrrrr.

OK. So, with lubrication and working things from the inside I got the door to work. But, it does the same as the driver's. If you central lock then unlock, it only works from the outside first, then the inside. Grrr.

Will Tillery confirmed that isn't normal function. So, he will check on it when he gets a chance. I hate to bug him since he's so busy. Anyone else jumping it would be greatly appreciated.

But, hey, I have central locking now.

try locking and unlocking your driver door with the door open and a screwdriver to lock it.... use the interior handle with the door "floating open" and see if it unlocks then.

Driver's door is back to making me roll down the window if I lock it, and use the outside handle. The pass side, I had to pull the seat and remove the door panel. I found that if the latch is half closed, nothing will unlock it, no matter what I try. It must be fully actuated. Next, I have to manually manipulate the ivory colored plastic piece up and down until I get a certain click, then the outside handle will work. The inside handle doesn't work at all once locked, except it sill moves the lock button up.

Reversed the plastic piece at the bottom of the rod to the handle and threaded the rod out a little to put more pressure on the latch. Now it is stuck in the closed position no matter what I try

something is going on with your cables...maybe when it was broke before someone continued to pull hard on the cables and they are stretched??? the lock replacement is a fairly straight forward task and should not have as many scenarios as you have experienced.

Pulled apart for the millionth time, lol, and bench tested it. Things are stiff so I cleaned and used generic pb lube (not blaster). It works but what lubve is best, before I re-install, only to pull apart again.

So long as it doesn't eat the plastic materials in the area, doesn't freeze or run in your operating temperature range, and isn't overly prone to picking up nastiness and not holding it in suspension, you should be fine. I don't remember what those housings are made of, but if you have it apart you should be able to find a stamp somewhere illustrating the polymer.

Something like that might actually be in the RAVE manual, but I couldn't begin to speculate where.

Cheers,

Kennith

The actuators will slide a little in its mounting holes. Try loosening he bolts and move it a little. The micro switches inside them might not be getting tripped.

I got the latch working on the bench but managed to break the handle cable. The lever actuated by the cable is stil either not working or incredibly stiff. Maybe I need a replacement for my replacement actuator.

What's binding, if anyone has seen the inside of one of these mechanisms, is the 3rd pece that needs to be actuated. !st is the primary lever (the one for the cable), then a secondary lever, then a verticle lever that releases the lock. THat 3rd piece is a bear to move and I've lubed the crap out of it and worked over 50 or more times. What the .......?!
