Since we are home more at night, we have run through a few things like Breaking Bad that I had never seen. Killing Eve is the current one, but what is everyone else watching? Yes, I saw Tiger King and that was bizarre and awesome at the same time.

We only have Amazon Prime and Netflix, nothing else. No TV, no cable, no Hulu, etc.

Right now we're on Season 4 of The Last Kingdom - another viking series but decent.

Speaking of Vikings, if you haven't seen Norsemen, do. It's fucking hilarious. (Netflix)

I watched the "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series in whatever original gibberish language it was in, not the remakes. Good series if you like that genre.

I watch many more movies than series...mostly old stuff.

Killing Eve was entertaining until the finale of season 1 at which point I refused to ever watch it again. My dad loves that show, my mom hates it. My wife loved it until the end of season 1. I hated it initially because I dislike Sandra Oh’s acting, but stuck with it and enjoyed it until the end of season 1.

You should watch Deadwood, Altered Carbon, Jack Ryan, The Expanse, Rev, The Fall, Luther, West World (sort of, season 2 was good but def weaker than season 1, haven’t watched season 3 yet), season 1 of True Detectives (don’t watch any other seasons), Fleabag, You’re the Worst, and I have also enjoyed Rick and Morty for quick easy laughs.

Maker's Mark, the complete fifth season.

Line of Duty was one of the best shows I've seen in recent years. Also enjoyed Unforgiven. I'm a sucker for British detective/crime/mystery dramas.

Norsemen was brilliant! We want to start Killing Eve, but I'm trying to be in the garage evenings, rather than in front of a screen.

Sometimes I feel like...

I can't stand Sandra Oh. I feel like she was just playing her character from Grey's Anatomy. My wife and I enjoyed the show otherwise and I love the soundtrack.

We just started watching The Sopranos from the beginning. The only other thing we have watched is the most recent season of Bosch.

Guess Killing Eve is out. I despise Sandra Oh.

If the apocalypse happens I want to survive long enough to take her and that dweeb fucknut Harry Potter kid on in a cage match. I will beat them at the same time until they’re almost dead then I’ll give them a chance to beat each other but the winner has to eat the other one. Literally eat the other one in order to live.

Then I’ll kill whichever one was the winner anyway.

I have irrational hate issues with both of those actors.

We gave in to the kid's begging and got Disney+. We've burned through almost all the Marvel movies again. I didn't think Endgame sucked as much as I did the first time I saw it though.

We gave in to the kid's begging and got Disney+.

My wife got the free year intro offer thru Verizon back in March.

It's a pretty vast library to have... I imagine she'll keep the subscription after the trial runs out.

I finally got everyone else in the house to pop their Star Wars cherry, so that alone was worth it for me 😁

There are no words to describe the anger and disappointment I exhibited when she made that dumbassed face she always does after the final action of the final scene at the end of season 1. I knew at that moment that I could never stand watching her in any other production no matter how curious I was about what would happen in season 2 of Killing Eve. I wanted a refund.

I just gave in when I realized so many good movies were there. However, my son likes some kids series that is truly parent torture to watch that he really wants me to watch with him.

I've been watching a lot of Crunchyroll, Funimation, and places you aren't supposed to watch stuff (not everything is available legally here, so fuck'em; I'll pay when you let me).

Anime is never-ending. It doesn't matter what you like, there will be a thousand different shows handling the same theme in different ways with different characters and settings. You never have to run out of a mood, and they're almost always better than anything we've tried in the same arena, because they don't seem to have ANY rules when it comes to themes. :ROFLMAO:

On that note... I think I'll watch Attack on Titan again. That was good, then worrisome that it might be bad, and then it became mind-blowing. That show would never have been green-lit here; not in a thousand years.

Cheers,

Kennith

The Mandalorian does not suck, by the way. It's quite good, and has a very old-school cinema feel they got with a new technology, actually.

If you've avoided it because of the crap Star Wars movies, fear not. It's worth binging. Benjing? Bingeing? Whatever.

Cheers,

The writing in Mandalorian was not stellar (pun intended), however as a child of the original trilogy I deeply appreciated the aesthetic of the series. Once again space and alien planets are a gritty, seedy, malfunctioning, jury-rigged, worn down universe. None of that spotless gleaming perfection shit from Episodes 1-3. There are also a lot of nods in the form of references and cameos that reward attentive watching for dedicated Star Wars fans.

I love how they managed that look.

They invested in some cleverness, and called Epic Games to bring in some gigantic displays and use the Unreal Engine to create the surroundings like a video game. It was filmed on a set, as it should be. Location is great, but a set allows so much more.

There were no green screens for digital matte backgrounds, and not even painted matte backgrounds. That set was surrounded by OLED displays, and they shot everything normally. The screens were good enough that they essentially just disappear; providing an aesthetic that most closely replicates the way things used to be filmed, while still respecting technological progress.

That's the difference between "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit". They filmed the first trilogy properly due to budget constraints. When the second came around, they had all that money... So, they foolishly spent it, and the films were crap.

The old ways work for a reason. Use the new stuff to make the old stuff easier and better; not to replace it.

Cheers,

Kennith

Mandalorian is good. If you like Star Wars and the feel of the older ones it’s great. The use of the Unreal engine like Kennith mentioned is amazing for how they filmed it. Most if not all scenes didn’t even require going back in to edit anything more than when they shot the scenes. The general feel of the season was very much like Firefly combined with a Star Wars universe. They eliminated the bullshit social justice warrior garbage that plagued the newer movies and eliminated the cheesy feel of side stories and injected characters.

There are a lot of complaints about it. Like he always has a way out. Or the show feels like every fake RPG that exists today. While I agree he manages well in most situations and comes out ahead, it’s called the Mandalorian. Not the Death of a Mandalorian. People need to grow the hell up and just enjoy what they’re watching. It’s a story about the main character and Mandalorians. It’s a good balance of action, comedy, character development, etc.

The only disappointing part about the show is the feeling you’ll have after the first episode. You’ll be confused why episodes 7-9 were garbage and don’t compare to the first five minutes of episode 1 of the Mandalorian.

Totally agree on The Mandalorian. Once the family heard it was coming, we waited and waited, and it's the only reason we initially sprung for Disney Plus. Definitely worth the wait. It's everything Star Wars should be, at least in my book. And no Jar Jar.
