I know what the "i" button is for off of the wheel, but what is the same labeled button for on the stereo? Does any body know? I checked the owners manual and there is nothing at all in regards to the stereo.

none of your fucking business
Its not an "i"...yours must be installed incorrectly. Its a "!" which is like an "oh shit we are about to explode" button. Thats why its placed convieniently next to the steering wheel and on the stereo (just incase you want to pump up the jams before you die).

the I. Button is actually v1.3 of Bmw's idrive. The I button stands for "I don't do shit." no, it was a lame attempt at organizing fm stations by genre, I think. Been a while since I ran stock head unit.

Maybe my "i" button was installed upside down so that when I roll it will become an easily recognizable "!" button, of which I can press to pump up the jams and pretend I didn't total my vehicle. Any thoughts?

Actually, all I can get out of it is to tell me what type of music my radio is currently tuned to. Is that its whole purpose or does it do more?

it's supposed to be information about the genre. Theoretically, some combination of the i button and virginal goat blood will also activate the weather alert system.
I haven't found it to be useful, but I only have an i button on the head unit.
What is this i button on the wheel thing?
