I’ve got a set of Knightsbridge in my RRC. They’re not intended to be factory replacements, they are made to withstand whatever abuse you want to throw at them. The material is very stout, basically bomb proof. After almost 4 years, they haven’t lost the battle against grease, water, fire or anything else I’ve managed hit them with.. Just my .02

I get that they’re durable (but seemingly not waterproof?), but I don’t really see the appeal. I couldn’t stand to look at the poor fit every day. To me, it’s like putting plastic over your couch at home.

Glad to hear this feedback. I know one person that got a set, I think when the other guy in VA owned it. He said they were garbage on the Defender and not at all close in quality to Badger. That photo of the Disco you posted certainly changes my mind about ever getting them.

I’d say they are all good options depending on what a buyer is looking for. Just my preference for something with heavy material that won’t tear or burn or whatever easily. The Knightsbridge have performed well. (I sprayed mine with NeverWet so they would be waterproof and grease/oil/stain resistant).

The D1 covers are made for electric seats.

Does anyone have or seen the melvill and moon covers made in South Africa? They are expensive but they look like they fit without much slop. Pretty nice looking too.

my 98d1 came with cloth upholstery, beige kestrel seats. these seats were used without covers for 12 years with kids playing in the mud, sand, snow, and the only trouble was, a foam skin below cloth became powder and a sticky substance. I cleaned this cloth and i'm using weatherproofs because i know these seats are not more possible to recreate. But if possible to get similar materials and the same original shape, this may be my choose.

LOL, you guys complaining about baggy seat covers want to have your cake and eat it too. If you want the original fit & finish of professionally upholstered seats then don't bother trying to put covers over them.

What's wrong with shortcuts?

I realize these are low budget for what most of you are looking at, but for the money, they're hard to beat.

I've had the tan ones for several years, and they've held up to everything I've dished out so far.

Eating cake isn’t allowed with the fancy covers! Lol.

I couldn’t agree more!

I don't see why they can't make a seat cover that fits properly. I just looked on the Knightsbridge Overland site and they charge about $600 for D1 seat covers (that don't fit). For $100 more you could just buy replacement seat leathers from L Seat, where they at least try to make them fit.

Speaking of L Seat, has anyone used their leather covers?

I haven't, and I haven't seen them in person, so take this with a grain of salt. One person I know that had them installed by an upholstery shop said that the upholstery shop told him the covers we too big. He also had them dyed to be the correct color. If I were ordering them, I would get them on the lighter side and have them dyed as needed.
