I’m a new owner of an ‘85 90. And having thought about it a bit, I simply can’t live with the stance of these stock offset steelies. I know nothing about these trucks, having been a Disco guy these many years. It’s currently on 265s with stock offset steel wheels and 2” lift. Would like to run 285s with some offset. What wheel do I want?

Thanks.

edit: don’t need bead locks, this truck won’t see much challenging off-road since I’ve got that covered already. Nothing fancy just steelies with the right bolt pattern and some offset to run 33s and maybe 35s in the future. Thanks again.

You want to find the “1 ton rims”, or J rims, or NAS 110 rims, or 130 rims. They are the same look as your current 5.5x16 but deeper offset and 6.5x16. There are too many variants from the years. Ideally look for anr1534s, but don’t over pay D90 prices. I got a set of rims with tires new tires on them for about $110 a wheel back in 2010. Must-have-master-race-Land-Rover mentalists pay insane prices like $300 per rim powder coated white.

Enjoy reading this. It’ll educate you on the wheels.

I think you won’t run into many of those rims in the US, but it gives you a good idea of what to look for when searching.

For an 85 90 you could do wolfs, but the lug studs are not long enough for the thickness of the wheel unless someone swapped to newer parts. I think disco steelies look good and fit(pretty certain about this) without needing to get longer studs or swap axle housings for newer 24 spline ones that would fit thicker wheels and alloy use of alloys if you have them. Or you can just rock them with the lugs not going all the way flush which is fine, but someone somewhere will judge you for it.

Or if you want to be super baller get the Terrafirma Dakar rims. They look great. I ran 255/85s on them.

Wolf steelies would be my suggestion. One ton wheels are great but tricky to find and pricey IIRC. Of course you can run Disco alloys with spacers. Ran that setup on my old 90 and had zero issues

If you want the offset to fit the big fat tires I suggest zu alloys or the knock off steelies that look like them. They provide the best offset game at the cost of looks. Or find a set of the weller steel wheels.

Just remembered I have a set of GCR 15” steelies I bought from Jimmy. They are in Cali still. Don’t know the offset. That might do it though.
