The factory Continental Contacts lasted 40K so I replaced them with Bridgestone Alenza Ultra (i believe) and have been pleased with the year-round performance and have given us about 10K more miles. My thinking is I'll go back to the same tire unless any of you have other recommendations. TIA

Assuming you’re on a 19” wheel? Looking to go any larger than factory (30”) diameter?

IMO, Michelin makes the best road tires. If I wanted stock size road rubber I would run those new Crossclimates.

Alenza is a decent tire however its been around for sometime. Tried it for one round of tire replacement on a non LR, and swapped out to Michelin for a better ride. Don't be afraid to check for alternatives.

If your happy with those tires I would run them again. In the 80’s I lived in Northern Virginia. I would run Goodyear Eagles on my Olds. Then I moved to Florida and Eagles didn’t last very long. So I ran Firehawks down there because the harder compound seemed to do better on the super hot roads. Up here in Northern Illinois Firehawks that I was running got cupped up really bad and got noisy as hell.
I know all that doesn’t really recommend a tire you want to buy today. But worth pointing out a tire someone in Texas or Arizona has good luck with might not do well in your local. Tires are a significant purchase. Your happy with your last set just run them again.
I run Conti extreme contacts DWS on my wife’s LR2. Those are 19 in wheels. I go thru them kind of fast but still really like them for a summer tire. Then I run Blizzacks on that in the winter.

Great advice. Makes sense to me to stick with what I’ve had good-enough experience with. As a result, I started checking the going rate on these things. I was bracing for this inflation drama to be front an center. I’ve had good luck buying tires from indie shops off of eBay. Sometimes I’ll buy one or two from one shop and another one or two from someone else. It always nets me a 20-25% net savings on tires like KM2’s so I tried it with these 19” 255/55’s. Found 4 with shipping for under $700. So, even though I’m probably going to hold off and not mount them until the fall it felt like a good opportunity to pull the trigger.

General Grabber HTS. I think this tire has changed to HTS 60. Very high mileage tire and incredibly quiet. I had good experience in snow in CA (I have heard complaints from some in VA) and on road water. 65k miles is accurate for wear. I’ve used these on Discos and my GX470. Would have bought them for the LC in the UK, but they weren’t available so I went with Nexen Roadian blah blah. So far so good with them, but I doubt they’ll wear as well as those grabber HTS did.

Other than that, my go to tires are whatever size and make all the Tacoma and Jeep guys are taking off 1000 miles after buying their new vehicles.
