Out of those 3, which one would you pick, 1& 2 are in the same price range, and 3) is 1/3 of neither 1 or 2.

1) 08 L322 Jag 4.2 SC
Good power, good on road driving, best interior out of the 3, off road- you guys knows better. Worth pretty much nothing in 4-5 years.

2)91 G-Wagon 300GE
Slow as shit, pretty much drive like a defender or a DI, DII. This is with jumper seats at the back. Basic interior pretty much like a DII, but still have leather seats. Have 3 lockers, and gas milage is worst than a disco. Still have beam axle. Market is slim but still hold good value.

3)04 Disco II.
Very low milage, only few thousand miles. Price is a bit high due to the condition of it.

Defender is out of the question, as we only have MT here, I need an auto so my GF can drive it as well.

If I had the money, I would get a 06 G55, got the power I need, up to date interior, and still have a traditional 4x4 system, with 3 lockers and pretty capable off road as well. BUT it cost 3 1/2 times more than the L322, I can't afford it.

edited, ok here is the link to the G55,

These are all different choices. I say L322 because it's such a pleasure to drive and the interior may be the best of any car. The G-Wagen is capable, no doubt, but from my research the reliability of those things is arguably worse than Land Rovers.

If you do look at the Range Rover better check the lower corners of the radiator for coolant leaks. You can look right over the top of the lower shield if you can get it on a lift. Check it for fault codes and if they got cleared recently wonder why. Get it out in a parking lot with speed bumps and try to get the rear suspension moving. The bushings back in the knuckle bind and squeak pretty loud. There's a coolant pipe that runs under the super charger, look at that thing good. Fuel trim faults might end up being a fairly easy fix.

In Hong Kong? The G-Wagon.

It's more narrow, shorter, the seating position is quite high, the bumpers are tucked in tight, and the body can be repaired easily with fewer gigantic panels that are likely to be damaged.

In other words, it's an absolutely perfect vehicle for driving around a cramped, over-crowded city with all those tight turns and bikes when you get off the main thoroughfares.

That's the one environment in which a late model Range Rover might be a bad idea.

Cheers,

Kennith

Regarding 4 wheeling, I will properly will do with any of the 3, and it is not tough terrain like what you guys are doing. Below links are some sample.

I really like the interior and the ride of the L322, and it got good power, but Axles are missing ....

And the only G that fit the bills is the 300GE from 1991, the interior is not so nice but I can live with it, as it is as bad as the E39. But the lack of power and the age of it is a bit if a concern. The value of it is not going to drop much, as now a 25 years old G cost the same as the 08 L322. But I properly will need to dump a lot of money into many other things to keep it running. A 2010 G350 with a 3L diesel turbo will have good power but that will cost twice as much and it is the military version, no power window and very basic interior.

I kind of like the G, but I don't want to get into another large project, as one of the reason I am thinking about a 2nd car is that I want to sort out the rest of the unfinished work on the E39, i.e.the vortex SC is still in the trunk, need to fix all the dent and re-spray.

Sounds like you might want to consider a Toyota Corolla.

I am leaning more towards the L322, Stew had pointed out many times don't get the L322 that is before the 08, and check radiator, rear suspension binding, CAN Bus issue, etc. I am still digging around to see if there are any other stuff to be aware of.

But properly I will try to find some more info on the old G as well. But seems to be not too much info on the net compare to the LR, for the sake of it.

As this vehicle will pretty much be the primary vehicle replacing the role of the E39, as later my GF will soon become my wife(after all this years), and the E39 is a MT 6 which she will not like it that much.

But definitely I will check out both an see what the G is all about, and if it is not too bad and I can stand the slowness of it, I might consider it.
