Looking to re-gear and add at least a Detroit in the back. Lucky 8 has Ashcroft air lockers in stock, so contemplating that route as well.
Who has had good luck with a purchase recently?

I had an ARB in the rear of my Classic, so I am familiar with the differences between Detroits and and air lockers. I do not get out that often, looking for reliability and strength as much as anything. Will get upgraded axle shafts either way. DII.

I would love to have a Detroit locker in the rear. I know a lot of guys say they like the selectable lockers. I kind of prefer shit that don't break.

I really haven't noticed anything with mine in the snow. If the center diff isn't locked I don't even notice it.
Turning on dry pavement with cdl engaged it'll make the tires chirp.

I never really noticed the Detroit in the back of my D2 on the road. Would click occasionally backing out of a parking space. Times where a selectable would’ve been nice but I really liked not having to fool with it

I'll get back to you in a few weeks, if you're not in a hurry.

I ran a detroit for 15+ years and it was completely bomb proof. The only drawback was it can crab on slick surfaces. Wonderful when you have traction. On the east coast trails there are times when the surfaces are very slippery and off-camber and the crabbing can be an issue. I swapped out the detroit after 15 years to a TT and it has helped in that regard. But if I were out west where the traction is less of any issue I go detroit.

I just purchased and installed an Ashcroft ATB from lucky8 in the front of my D1 like a month ago. Set up correctly, it's unnoticeable on the street. Do to the gremlins I'm currently sorting, I have not been off the road yet so I have no comment there.
