Ok right now I am doing a little tire shopping and have been looking at the maxxis bighorn in 255/85. Does anybody have any experience with this tire? I know one guy in my area that has had the buckshot mudders but nobody that has used the bighorn.

Tim, I think Becca got some Bighorn's for her RRC in a slightly smaller size so you might want to ask her about them. I think she has the Buckshot Mudders on her 101 too...
One of my buddy's has 305/65 Bighorns and he really likes them on his DII, they look good and they are not bad off road.

just put on on some 255/85/16 bighorns on my 96 D1.. So far have yet to take them off road but they look sweet, ride great on road with very little noise for a pretty agressive tread..
I've been a huge fan of Maxxis tires for years.
I've used the Mudzillas and now the Creepy Crawlers on my XJ rock crawler.
I have the 265-75-16 Bighorn Mudders on both my wife's D2 and my D1 and love them.
Hell, I even use the Maxxis Minotaurs on my mountain bike.

Yep, the old one was cracked and loose inside the old rim... I installed these yesterday and have not had time to get a replacement..
Where do you guys order your maxxis tires from, I looked em up and they look nice, I need a set of tires as I tore a sidewall open on mine and I needed new ones anyway.

Check ebay for some decent prices. I decided to go bfg mts since I found a set of four 235 85 for 516 shipped to my door.

$212 at Discount Tire for the BFG. I paid $640 for 5 285 Maxxis M/Ts. That included mounting, balance, taxes ect. The tires are great off road, but loud on the highway, especially as they wear. They also drop my mileage by 2 mpg compared to my same size ATs.
