In the process of replacing the lock regulator in my 03, I found a broken plastic donut. So, any good sources for regulator bushings, or just buy another?

What I've seen done is: the crap plastic wheels replaced with a stack of metal washers of the correct size. Although brass would be the dogs bollix.

I am not sure how easy those studs are to get out without defoming the flimsy metal rail they are mounted in. I have seen someone had a design for a printed version 2 piece snap together set that just goes over the existing stud. Not sure I can find it again but might be worth a search.

I made one out of a random piece of aluminum and some washers I had laying around. I think I even cut it square and just greased it well. Was about 5 years ago and no issues since

The printed ones say DII, I assume they fit both early Discos? Anyone used these? I was going to go to a yard and just buy a replacement but I am just paying for the same problem to happen anytime anywhere. I forget if the rear DII window mechs fit the DI, anyone else remember? My 99SDs are starting to go now.

I bought the aluminum ones on eBay. Figured they were more of a permanent fix, but the plastic ones lasted almost 25 years. I may not last another 25 years. They work well and were easy to install. But, I havent had them on long.

What's the install like on the ALU ones?

It is fairly simple. When you have it out, drill out the old fastener/ axle being careful to not widen the hole, put the new roller and axle in, crush/mushroom the axle end that fits through the slide with a hammer and you are good to go. I put a good amount of grease on the roller and slide. Instead of a drill you could use an angle grinder or file to be sure you don’t accidentally widen the hole. I was not at my shop when I did it and was tool limited.

The plastic 3D printed ones are easy to install, work quietly and are cheap! I've used them on my old 96 and my 98 - highly recommended.
Although "metal" seems manly and HD, I don't like the metal on metal part from a noise aspect and, although slight (being alum), the wear on the channel. And the plastic just encloses the orig. pin. A little super glue, white lube and back together.
