OK - did lots of searching and reading but still cannot find a definitive answer. Symptoms are the same as everyone elses - need to jiggle the switch to get them to work - but can hear the relay kicking in so not sure.

Switch or motor? Bad ground on the motor? Tightening the motor?

Did anyone replace one or the other and fix the problem? The swtich assembly isn't to bad but the motor is expensive.

Thanks -

Try tightening the motor bolts. My wipers have never had any problems but I did notice that one of the bolts was loose. I had the problem of my wipers "flaking out" (as my wife put it) in my 84 Corvette and tightening the motor bolts fixed it... so I'd say give it a try.

OK thanks - I have the Rave CD - will check tonight. Didn't know if someone knew off hand if this was easy or like other things with the Rover require most of the truck to be disassembled first.

Replaced my rear door actuator last night - what a PIA. They couldn't make that unit small enough to fit through the open recess of the door without removing the window frame? Jesus.

Na, that would make it too easy.

When I lived in CO, I'd just driven through a bizzard, over a 12,000 foot pass and my driver's side wiper had frozen into a chunk of ice. About 10 miles from home I stopped the car and as the wiper passed in front of me I grabbed it, pulled it up to allow it to hit the windshield and hopefully remove the ice. On the next pass over the windshield, the whole wiper arm went flying off into a snowbank. It was snowing sideways, but I made it home looking out of the passenger side windshield....

Here are two threads that might help, one does suggest the wiper motor btw although it's a D1.

Just hook a coat-hanger to it, open the driver's side window, then use the coat-hanger to move it back and forth (worked great in the old days when Jeeps had vacuum wipers...hehe.
