This weekend was able to spend some good quality father-daughter time … brake bleeding, tire rotation and new wiper blades. She’s really enjoying the D1 … certainly stands out in the high school parking lot :)

Nice. That's a great way to spend time with your kid. Builds skills and confidence.

My middle son and I have done quite a bit of work together on his D2, including rebuilding the entire brake system.

I was pretty proud of him when he pulled an old locked up caliper and installed a new one the other day before I even got home from work.

I raised 2 boys while working as a dealership mechanic That is the only thing I’ve done for a living since 1981.
I have always told my boys “ if you pick up a wrench I’ll break your hand”
My daughter might actually be able to diagnose stuff, but she won’t

Last weekend my 15yr old son helped me change springs and shocks on the D2. First time he has done that. It’s such a great time. Now my daughter wants in but they don’t want to do it at the same time. Lol. The joys of having more than one kiddo.

Love it when the kids help out. My youngest son (4 years old) likes helping more than my 7 year old.

My son is not much interested in working on cars, so far. He really likes cars, just not wrenching. In time, I will make him learn some basics such as changing a tire. If he develops an interest, I will share the experience with him. If not, I am fine with him doing what he wants as long as it contributes to his well being in one way or another. If he gets involved in something that doesn’t meet that standard he be will doing long days at my shop.

I have a friend that restored a TR6 with his daughter, starting the project in her early teens. On her 18th birthday it became hers. i met her, after she graduated from law school, when he brought her to a club meeting, She was still wrenching well into her 30s and likely still does. Much closer to my age than her father, we became bar hopping buddies for a couple years. I got married and my bar hopping days came to an end. A couple years later she met her husband, a farmer. About 10 years into her law career she stopped practicing law and has worked on the farm since. Seems she enjoyed workng with her hands more than being an attorney. I am sure that is rooted in her wrench turning days with her Dad. She still had the TR6 last time we spoke.

This is the only time my son has shown interest, many years ago.

Is that a tiny little Saab? How cool is that. Did you guys build it?
I’m not that talented, lol. That is at a really awesome place for kids in St. Louis, The Magic House. The kids can take apart and put together various parts with hand and power tools. They have all kinds of kid fun stuff, even kid sized construction equipment.

This was 8 years ago. Since then we have rebuilt a P38 together which he loves driving. Lots of fun.

P.S. - that Mercedes is double parked and kinda protecting us.

I think most kids get bored when they realize the job is going to take a bunch of hours. I think when they get old enough to apreciate what the truck feels like when its right, then the 6 hour job is like nothing. Little kids would be just as happy helping you plant flowers.

Girls wrenching can be/is a thing. Understand the draw here.

Here not so much. She is kind of plain and not real personable, but she gets loads of free shit.

Dweb is trying to have a wholesome moment here.
I'm not sure I follow you. Neither of these young women wrenches in the nude or has an onlyfans site. Nor did I suggest that the OP's daughter does that. I only pointed out that there are no small amount of people that will subscribe to a young woman that wrenches youtube channel, thus allowing her to monetize it.
