Looking for a solid Saab 99 Turbo. '78-'80 are the production years. More concerned about the body vs. the year and I'd much rather prefer a 3-door. Quite a few people have done the 16V swap along with the 5 speed.

Would certainly consider other models/years like an EMS.

I had a '76 while in college and of course should never have split with it. Great snow car.

They were a all over back in the 80s in New England, but now they are getting quite hard to fine - but still far more common in that region.

Shoot me an email if you come across one. Thanks!

I've had a 900 16V as well and our family has been Saab/Volvo folks for most of my adult life. I like the 900s, but I want something a bit more vintage - if you can even call them that yet. I might consider doing the 16V and 5spd swap too as I now have a local shop as my disposal.

I saw the one posted on the 99turbo site a while back. Wanted something that was running at first, but...........

This is the updated link to the one you posted: http://www.saab99turbo.com/classifieds/for_sale_details.php?type=car&id=34

Comes with a 16V motor and 5 speed.

Ohhhh. If I am going to pay that, I want it to be just the way I want it. More along the lines of this little gem. A few touches, so it doesn't appear to have shag carpet and an 8 track.

Not interested in a modern Saab as GM completed gutted them and turned them to shit

Hey now! Totally enjoy my 2004 9-3 convertible with 2.0T. Recently turned 19,000 miles and now my DD here in Swissland.

Just installed 4 ContiWinters so looking forward to seeing how it does in the snow.

Well you've got the I4 which was a good motor. The Opal V6s on the other hand - not as much. Still GM pulled from the parts bin a little too much for my taste on those cars. Last year we got rid of a 1999 9-5 - it was becoming like a Land Rover. Thankfully it too had a I4.

There was a tv show on Saab shown by BBC.

It discussed the making of the 9-3 and how the idea was Saab was to basically just rebadge the Opel.

The Saab engineers totally disregarded what the GM bean counters wanted and redesigned the Opel into the 9-3 costing the program millions!

It totally pissed off the GM folks and was one of the reasons they dumped the brand.

The car though turned out pretty well and yes, the little turbo 4 is a hoot to drive in the Alps especially with the top down!

Good luck with your search.

Yeah they were just down from Taylor Boyz trailers in Warrenton. I went there a few times as Kelly had her Saab 9-5 serviced there when they were around. Very cool guys. The "waiting room" was a couch like 10' from the lifts in the shop. Legit car guys. Now it's just some car lot with generic crap. They were Saab and Volvo. Had a good number of 900s, 9000s and 850s.
