XD9000 Warn Winch Connections

I'm just about to install my Warn Remote Control box on the front of my TJM bumper and notice there are 3 large gauge Black wires and 1 small gauge Black wire coming from it.

The 3 large gauge wires are marked up and connections are obvious but where should I connect the small gauge Black wire. It is marked up 'Motor Ground'. Does this mean I have to connect to the winch or can I use any good vehicle earth?

Ground it on the vehicle somewhere. I installed my XD9000 about 4 months ago and I'm pretty sure that's what you do. I can't go look at it since my Disco is at the dealer being fixed.

I have a Warn M8000 and the small black wire connects to the winch motor ground bolt.

I have an XD9000 on my Disco 1 and I connected the skinny cable to a factory ground point beside the battery. Alternatively, you can also connect it straight to the battery terminal.
