she tried to burn (smoke!!!) Saturday night. PO has got soooo many wires on this thing one of them decided to short out and melt ALL the rubber insulation around it for like atleast a foot. :ack: It actually melted the wire into two pieces.

I had someone else try to start truck. Mistake 1. I think maybe they held key to start instead of the button. Long story, but PO made a secret bypass where you don't need the key to start..... hard to explain, It's fucked up. I bet PTs got a wiring diagram at the shop he can fax me. :D

The funny part is she said "Justin, it's smoking".... I said its the exhaust, dont worry about it. I am at a distance... get in....... go yip...... something is fried. Start is up, and drive it 5 minutes home !

You just discovered the Lucas Electrical Theory. If you let the smoke out, it doesn't work. Therfore, electricity is made of smoke.

The beauty of Series vehicles is that the wiring diagram is but a single page, not an inches-thick manual - and only two fuses. I'll see if I can put my hands on the Series II manual, which is hidden in the morass some might call a garage.

Cheers

Oh man don't worry about it. I have the green bible. I was being sarcastic with PT. It was PTs buddy's truck and said 59 is in PTs avatar. If I can't figure it out later, I will hollar back. .

I have to figure out why it was hot with everything off. Like I said....... I am pretty sure this was an addition.

The sad thing is the PO is an electrical engineer!

I thought I'd tidied all that mess up before you got it. I drove it as my daily driver for two summers with no problems.

no doubt on the elicktrikul injuneer !!!! This is my second wiring issue. I had some headaches this summer in tail lights / blinkers/ wtf ever...... i don't recall, or care. :victory:

I've been driving it for a year now. I don't have to worry about re sealing the driveway.

I don't have brake lights.

The orange (turn signals) in front IN THE PAST have lit up when I pressed the brake, a quirk I lived with. The do not do that now. I am pretty sure they blink.

I found the fried wire....... it is fucking bare stranded copper, and it looks as though it has been bare for years. (that cant be right) .

I patched it back together, got more smoke. The brake lights and orange lights LIT up as soon as I connected the positive post.

What I don't get yet is that our Electrical Engineer spliced into the positive in between the dash and battery, and T'd off (branched off) to my problem area.......

I saw last night in Green bible ... the brake switch doo hickey.

I am just gonna have to fucking figure it out !

U only paid 5,000 and it lasted over a year. Awesome! Sounds like it has been more reliable than any other land rover. The fact that it only has 10 wires should make it pretty easy to completely rewire.
