Going to try it again this sunday if anyone would like to come along. There are pictures of the trail in the tech discussions under a heading called. "I do stupid stuff with my truck"

Brian,

I do not think I will make it this weekend, I just picked up my metal to make my rear bumper and I am dying to get started on it.

Not to mention that map quest says it is 4.5 hours from here : ( and that is a bit to far of a drive to watch since there is no way my DII would make it up that right now.

Sorry,

Dave,

If you don't start your bumper come on down anyway....we will probably hit some other trails also. One of my projects for the winter is rear bumper fab......what are you using for yours?

Brian Good Luck...You know what my baby looks like, don't think it could handle the first part. Need bumpers front and rear and a few more skids down under!
If you can, take some video, can't wait to see the pics.

Eric,

Yes...I think you needs some dents to make it feel loved.

Dents are OK but leaks are alittle over the top for me. Plus...I DON'T work at a dealer! :-)

Brian,

I am using 3/16 mild steel 2.5 X 4 inch tubing for my rear bumper. I made a prototype of the corner to check my bends this weekend and I am pretty happy with the results. The plan so far is to add recovery points, high lift jack points and a mount point for the stock hitch wiring. The bumper will be held in place with 8 bolts utilizing existing holes and I may add a gas tank skid later.

I forgot how good it feels to be creating something with your own hands, kind of makes me miss that days when I worked in a fab shop.
