Hey Colorado Folks,
I am looking for some info that anyone may have on some good trails to run in snow, a days trip from the Denver area.

Can't stay off the trails for too long or I start jones'in. Alittle snow just makes it more challanging.

Hey Eric!
I went with you guys to Red Cone a month or two ago. i have the white D90. Anyway there are some trails I would recomend but not all will have snow. There is a great trail outside of Buena Vista called Old Chinamans Gulch. Not too much snow on this one but it's a blast. Down south just west of the springs is a trail called Eagle Rock/Saran wrap. If your interested let me know and I could show you both. Cheers,

Sean,

Eagle rock has snow. I was up there the week before last and we got up past the main difficult part but decided to turn around cause it was going to be a very rough day. It was fun in the snow and I think the trail is rated a 6 but with snow it is much more difficult. Havn't been to chinaman's in a while. That would be quite a trail if there is snow on it.

There is rumor that on the way to the trail, if you are in a Jeep, that the prairy dogs jump out and fall under your tyres. Any truth to that rumor?

I got a call yesterday from LRNA...they said that it is ok to bring your d90 in for trade. Your special order vehicle is here.

One prairie dog, Two prairie dog.... Get em Loenard:) With regard to my "Special Order Vehichle"I hope they got the yellow color right and there better not be a CDL in that thing. I'll bring in the 90 tonight!

Brian,
It's time for me to change fluids and the ground at my place is covered in snow. Is that garage of yours open? If so when?

Sean,

Are you trading the d-90 in on a disco?

Dave,
It's just a joke Brian and I play. Brian always asks when I'm trading in my D90 and The real answer is NEVER! Unless of course he has found me a 110 that will cost me nothing extra over my trade in. Even then I'm not sure, soft tops are awesome for Colorado summers.

Hey Colorado Guys,
We just bought our first LR D1 a few weeks ago. We also just moved to CO and are looking for some trails to run this winter. If any of you go out to the above trails you are talking about, we would loe to tag along, if you don't mind of course. Thanks for the space.

Hey all,

I post just about every time I go out. I am almost always out on sundays and I buzz just about all around the state. Started thinking that no one was reading trail posts. sometimes I can't post till the night before on the trail we will be hitting and sometimes we don't decide untill the morning we leave but if I know others want to go we can plan a little better.

I am planning on a trip this sunday. Don't know where yet or the difficulty level but anyone is welcome to come. It is almost sop for me to go on sundays and if anyone wants to do some wed. trips let me know also.

the cool thing about snow is it is less likely to break things and the easy trails become much more challanging.

I am still looking for a rear shock if anyone has one they want to part with, but even without it I am still in for this weekend.

give a buzz if you are interested or e-mail.

Eric,

Have you gotten the rest of your protection yet so you can do holly cross?

I'm a bit more banged up than last time you saw me. Minesweeper did a # on my body, even with my home made sliders. Bent another trailing arm and busted a shock. I am still wondering how much that trail is going to cost me. I am thinking about a 2 in body lift, 411 gears and a great basin underdrive. Also considering building a rear bumper.

Go for it. Conquer Minesweeper!!!!!!!

I have not gotten anymore protection. With Christmas comming up and all...well you know i'm sure. I don't know that I am getting much for Christmas. I am saving up for an 2 week expedition to the Alaskan arctic in August of 03 so my xmas gift will be a chunk of $$ for that.

Brian,
We are about two minutes from Buckley and Smoky Hill. Mind you my Disco is stock, we can go Sunday, but be gentle! If you decide on a more difficult trail we can go and watch.

FYI - I am an Import car specialist, but I have a wholesale account with Bilstien. I can get LR Disco Shocks for $82 ea. front or rear. Suspension is about the only thing I can get for the LR because I am set up for Import cars.

Thanks.

Brain, I will most likely be working on my bumper this Sunday, but let me know where you are planning on going. I probabley can not make it down to the springs but might be able to make a trip in the Denver area.

Brian,

When are you going to buy a parts Disco? Might be cheaper in the long run! Heck, I remember when yours looked a little bit like mine. Maybe you should get RT's 2 inch springs and a 1 inch body lift. That should be more then enough clearance. Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Hi Warren,

I'm in Aurora as well. I don't do too many winter runs. More than the snow that freaks me out, it's the ice. Like Brian said, even the easy trails become pretty challenging if there's any incline.

Me and my brother both have fairly stock disco 2s. And as the weather gets better, we'll be heading up.

Eric, you mind emailing me your mailing list? As well as being contacted, I'd like to contact folks as things get planned.

Chu,

"Me and my brother both have fairly stock disco 2s."

Whatever! I guess if you consider lockers, bumpers, sliders, DI CDL, lift, tires, no sway bars and whatever else I forgot to add "fairly" stock.

Hmm, using this method that would make my DII bone stock ; )

Chu, I still need to meet you!!!
My DII is way more stock that yours is so don't give me that. I will email your my list as well as email you when I do something. I don't plan on anything very difficult this winter, just an easy trail with some snow.

Sunday run planned for chinaman's gultch near Salida. It is a fairly easy trail and I don't think that there will be much snow but even if there is the trail should still be doable. E-mail if you are in. I will also start another post. Hope to see some people.
