Paul,
Did you sell your Disco? What's going on with the R-380 conversion? I'll offer a ride but it will have to be in the back seat, my wife will want to be co-pilot. Anyway, we'll have to see what Sunday works out best for most people. I've never been to Ringwood so before we do anything I think we need someone familiar with trail (hear that John C.) to offer up a date that's good for them. BTW, Nat emailed me last night, I'll see if he wants to join us.

Ok guys, how does Sunday sound to you? I know it's super toilet bowl day but we would be out of the trail by 3 or 4 pm. If you are interested we are meeting at 9 (9:30) the latest somewhere over the Tappan Zee. AdrianS, FrankP and I are going. Anyone else interested just email or call me if you have my number. We will be scouting some of the side trails and going over the large mudhole.

Later.

Sorry rans, I didn't think you guys would want to come all the way here for this trail. It was very icey and difficult. We had 5 vehicles (3 RRs, 1 D90 and 1 Izusu). We only made it down to the small waterfall with the Corvair. Actually, we slid down.... Adrian stopped when a rock got in his way and the Izusu guy got lucky and fell into a ditch. Frank (D90) decided to slide sideways until his truck turned 90 degrees and got stuck between the side walls. Being the big baby I am I asked Paul to pull me down (what a weasel I am) and Paul slid right into home base...

It took us about 2.5 hours just to get down to the Corvair and another 2.5 hours to get back up.

Maybe Adrian or Paul can be more descriptive than me...

John, my wife has only one thing to say...Fluff!

Paul, LOL... we can always depend on Frank to bring the fluff. Hey, next time I'm bringing some of that miracle sand you had! Does it come in bigger bags?

Rans, here are some pics that will give you a better idea of what the trail looked like:

BTW, we had a chance to test 3 different winches. Adrian has a MM 8k lb, Frank has a Warn 10K and I have the CE 8K. Adrian did the most winching (spooled his cable out all the way). The Warn was the quickest but it had the thinner cable. The MM and CE did not warm up or burn a solenoid and the cable was thicker.

So the MM electric worked fine?

Hey John, I didn't tell you but Jen and I couldn't make it up our driveway when we got home Sunday night. Sheer ice. Monday we got five bags of the "fairy (or maybe it's fairey) dust," as Frank called it, and it worked as well as lockers!!!

Oh yeah, I wanted to mention the way the Milemarker worked. Granted it was a little slower that the Warn but given the price, I'd be hard pressed to buy anything else! Adrian winched himself and then me all the way up without a 'hitch.' I know, puns are the lowest form of humor.
