Hey, a bunch of us are heading to Charouleau Gap on February 22nd and I want to invite anybody in the Arizona/Southwest area to come along. I am attaching a link to the trail, and its description from the local jeep club. There are pics there too. Should be a pretty challenging trail.

Trail Info: http://www.azvjc.org/ (Look for Charouleau Gap)

Blue, Jeffry?

Anybody, drop me a line and let me know if youre interested

I might be interested. It says it is a 4 rated trail, is that a problem for a disco with a one or two inch lift?

jeff.

Jeffry, I have never done it. I have the OMEHD lift on my rig, and am told we can make it. We will have at least 1 disco and 1 defender there, plus a jeep or two.

Also, one of the Jeep guys posted this: "Did the trip with 3 Jeeps on 010603. One of which that was near stock except for the addition of 31" tires. He did fine until the the shale climb past the step. A little assistance and off he went."

I dont imagine we will have any problems.

March 1 is the firm date. Here is another trail report: http://www.4x4wire.com/trail/report/az/charouleaugap02/
Shoot, if Tacomas can make it, we should be able to without fail. Plus even if we cant make the tough ones, there are EZ ways out, which I am not interested in taking unless I have to. :-)

Not at all, Blue. The more the merrier. We have 1 D90, my Disco, 1 old (insert letter here)J jeep, possibly a grand cherokee, a TJ, you and your Willy. :-)

The step looks like a real slider dinger there...speaking of which, have you and Kevin gotten together to get those things built yet?

Oh, shit the bed!

I got an email today from my uncle (D90, who is actually arranging the trip) and he cant make it til the 8th. I am so sorry for the confusion and problems resulting from this. Still in? He says it is *truly* the firm date.

March 8th should be cool too.

Getting together with Kevin this week.

I'll run Charouleau sliderless.

Oh good. I was hoping that wouldnt throw a wrench into the works. If you are getting together with Kevin this week, why wouldnt you have your sliders for the trip? He indicated to me that it would be well before summer when it is done...and if he has to do yours first...well..
Any idea?

I would definitely like to give it a go. How long a day do you think the trail will be? My wife made plans for the evening and I just need to be home early enough before the dinner ... boy, that makes me sound whipped.

Well, the last website I posted lists the trail as 19 miles, 5-7 hours. Also need to consider driving time from Phoenix to Tucson (which will be nil, in your case). We do come out of the trail at Oracle, so whatever time it takes to get from Oracle to your house needs to be added. I would imagine we can get a muster together early enough to be on the trail by 9ish, which means that we should be done between 2 and 4. Hopefully that should get you back with enough time on the 8th.

I can be up & on the road as early as you want. 0530 is no problem for me. The guy with the Willy's is having a baby today (actually his wife is having the baby), so he may be a no go. But I & a friend will be there in my relatively stock D1.

Guys,

Update on the CGap trip. It went over very well. We ended up with 8 trucks on the trip, 4 DIs, 2 DIIs 1 D09 and a toyota truck. It was an absolute blast. I have asked Ho to post pics on Dweb, but in the meantime, if you have an itch, you can go to my personal web and check it out.
Go to http://www.c-s-group.com/photos.htm to get to the link for our
trip.

Blue....man...I am sorry, but what a day. Challenging trail, good people...We missed you.

Jeffry, Was great having you along. Glad you had a good time.

Jess

Damn seems like I'm missing out on all the good shit. I can't wait till I'm down there. Hopefully soon can't wait to get away from the latte sippin soccer moms that plauge the northwest. I might be down there for a week at the end of this month. I won't have my D1 which is built pretty strong but I will have the D1 I'm building for my little bro that I Wouldn't mind roughin up a bit. I wish I had my truck to show off but I can't even imagine driving that heap accross country also it's getting a T-case transplant soon. The truck in my profile is most likely what I will be driving but you never know I might be able to get a T-case into mine before my trip out there

Bring whatever you want down here. Let us know when with a little advance warning, and we can plan to hit some cool trails.

Do you come to Tucson or Phoenix? ...or Prescott?
