NEVER!!! The rover has been kicking my ass lately. I had to replace my whole front axle (both sides)from drive member to drive member, starter, master cylinder, and a brake line burst while I was driving (that was fun), you name it and its probably gone wrong in the last 2 months. But i think she's back together, got a new set of goodyear MT/r's and lookin to test them out. Well we gotta set something up so we can all go out there sometime. I should have plenty of free weekends after spring break so we can do it then. Let me know. I'm still up for the 14th-16th for anybody else looking to go.

I mite be up for it but, it will depend on if my wife has the baby before then and how her health is at the time. I'll have to wait and see what happens.

I'd be in but I have this 'anniversary' thing that weekend. Otherwise, count me in any other time.

We just got about 5 more inches of snow tonight here in Harrisonburg. Should make for good camping. I'll meet you at "Camp 4-Points"

We have had a few warm days. Alot of the snow is gone. There was a Jeep club up in Rawley today. They said things were real muddy. Sounds like fun.

I hope I can make it out with you guys. Im still not sure if I will have to work, but I might take a long lunch break. What channel do you run in the CB, and where will you be meeting and camping?

Don't know exactly how many rigs are actually going to head out. So far I think there are 2 others besides myself that have said they'd be up for it. I don't really mind how many go just need one other just in case. What kind of gear are you running on your rig?

Yea i figure it will be REALLY muddy, just worried about some of the river crossings. We were wheeling in mid April last year and the rivers were almost too high to cross safely. We usually meet up at the Exxon/Mobil off I-81 at the rte 33 exit (exit 246 i think). We usually don't use CB, FRS is a lot clearer, but i'd monitor channel 19 on the CB on I-81. I'm not a huge fan of camping in wet cold weather so if worse comes to worse I'd just go for a nice long day trip. I'd like to hit up second mountain, i think thats just about one of the only good trails I haven't seen yet.

If you head up the back side of 2nd Mtn. on the Jolly Ridge Trail then cut back down 2nd it would take about 2 1/2-3 Hours. That would give you time to hit Keppheart and Lost Mirrors on the other side of the Mtn. Depennding on what gear you have and the other trucks you have with you Dictum Ridge would be real fun. About 2 months ago a bunch of new H2's thought they were going up it and tore it all to pieces. They had an H1 winching them up the hill.

Im running a rear locker with 2" OME lift, 2" Body, and hope to have new tire on this week (255/85 or 285/75/16). Just made a new set of rock sliders too. We'll see how they work.

I have rear ARB locker, 3inch RTE lift, 265/75 MT/R's, ARB bull bar and snorkle. My girlfriend will probably come with her fj-62 on 33/12.5 Mud rovers. I've been out there a dozen times and am very familiar with the area. Looking forward to it. Dictum is a bitch if it is muddy/snow covered.

If you are going to go up Dictum and it's covered in snow and ice you are probably going to want someone with a winch around. I had to winch up it last time I tried it in the snow/mud/ice.

I'm still not sure if I can make it or not. If the wife has the baby this week then I probably can if not then I'll probably have to take care of her. Our induction date is the 13th so if it goes that far then you can count me out for sure. But, I'll let you know as it get closer to the weekend.

Yea i'm running OME 2inch, terrain master winch bumper and a Ramsey, on 32 Mt/r's and I wouldn't even think about doing Dictums. We checked it out from the top last time i was there and it was just sick looking. I'd consider if I had some sliders but it so off camber and close to that edge. I don't wanna smash me truck to pieces.

I Might be up for going offroading just for the day. Are there good trails south of rt 33? I only been to the GWNF 3 times I have been offroading north of RT 33 (Dictum, Second MT, ect). I am trying to map out some new trails on my TOP 4.0 mapping program.

no there isn't much south on rte 33, the best thing to use for trails in VA is the Virginia Atlas and Gazetteer by DeLORME. It is extremely detailed and geared toward outdoor recreation.

I will likely come down if you guys don't mind. I'm up for camping unless it's forecast below 10* overnight. I have a DI, open diffs and 245/75 MTRs, stock except for OME. I've run all the trails in that area several times, don't think I'm up for Dictum in this truck though. So if you don't mind an open-diff truck......

Joe,
Happy to have you come along. None of these trails need locked diffs as you know. I think dictum is out, unless bone dry.

Carl, some guys have been running some trails down near Raphine, VA, I-81 exit 205 (Whites Truck Stop). Im not sure right where the traild are but if you email Kevin with SHenahdoah Valley 4-Wheelers he may be able to tell you more. His address is on the club web site www.sv4w.org I think. Email me off list and I might be able to get his house phone number.

Yea I know where Whites is. Never heard of any trails down there though. I took a look in my trail map and didn't see a whole lot.

I checked with Kevin with SV4W, he told me that the trails were on private land. The trails are of OK quality. He told me the trails were wide enough for a hummer but a stock jeep could do 85% of them. The guy, Tom, who ownes the land has been making the trails with a chain saw, and plans on making some real challanging trails. He did say if you went off the "beaten path" you could get into some nice old caved in mining areas. Lots of loose rock and steep hill climbs, some stuff he could not get up locked front and rear. Sound like a nice place to go in the next few years.
