OK, northern ohio sucks for clubs and wheeling, but the terrain is great.

how can I research the laws as what is and is not legal?

I mean, can I pull off the road if I see i nice trail?

Jesse, if the road is a legal public township or county road, you can drive it. To determine this, you need to check with the county or township.

If it is private property, stay off. If it has been legally vacated, stay off - it is illegal.

There is very little public land up here, so you need to be extremely careful about where you go and you should check IN ADVANCE if something is legal.

PLEASE do not just go blazing trails or riding indiscriminately. You will eventually get in trouble and you will do a great disservice to all 4-wheelers. If you're really lucky, a private landowner will point a gun at you or a police officer will write you a hefty ticket.

Where in northern Ohio are you? There are decent trails within 2-3 hrs of Cleveland.
