has anyone done bbp in colorado in a disco recently? the local guide said my "british tin can" was to long for the switch backs.. guess I should get a pos jeep with ripped cushions. There is a site which details the crossing in a ford f-150. Pickup thanks

I run it at least once or twice a year in my Disco, no problem. A couple of the switch backs are a bit tight and you may have to do a three point turn to get through, though. FWIW- Black Bear isn't open yet. The Ouray NFS Ranger Station says it'll likely open up in about 2 weeks or so (heavy, late snow this year). I run it in a Disco II and you can do it no problem, just be carefull and do a three, or more point turn, like mentioned above. A few of the switch backs are very tight and scary but take it slow and be wise. There is a guy that runs tours on Black Bear Pass out of Ouray and he does it with a full Chevy Suburban. I think he's crazy but he does it. |
