Hello all. Peter Blatt and myself are planning a pine barrens trip Sunday July 20. Peter has scouted a few good trails recently, and is planning a route for us. We will be doing Water Road again too, this probably the main part of the trip. All will be in Wharton State Forest (and legal).

To be confirmed later, meeting place is route junction 70 / 206 on the circle at 10am.

All are welcome. Note however the following:

1. Scratches are to be expected, so if you care, forget it.

2. We will be crossing maybe 20-30 fairly deep clear water sections of Water Road, possible up to 3-4 feet dips but mostly 1-2 feet. Mudders are unlikely to get stuck, but stockers may have problems. So if you can't live with getting a flooded interior, forget it too. Snorkels are highly useful here too, but you don't absolutely need one. D2's I'm not sure about though.

3. For water road, you best have a recovery point and strap PRE-ATTACHED, so if you don't have one, get at least one. This aids fast recovery and reduces flooding. Also if you get stuck you may need to get out and wet in case the 'wadered' people can't get to you.

Sign up here if you're interested. Peter may log in here and tell us what to expect on the other trails I've not done.

Dean

Dean and Peter,

Hey, I plan on going. I had a great time yesterday. Peter, you are right. My car stinks like the water now. I'll keep checking the board.

I'm in. Can I bring an extra truck? My buddy has a D2 that doesn't see the trails enough. He might wuss out though. With the flooding of the interior and all.

Christopher

Bring any rovers ok, but no other vehicles. If we are sensible and have straps attached and work together, even if someone gets stuck they won't get flooded, especially the newer discos that still seal ok around the doors.

I' ll be in the AC area on sat night. If im not too tired/hung over/broke, I will try to make it out. How far is the meeting spot from there? I know where No. Branch Rd is, is it much further west then that? I have a D2 with a snorkel and have been dying to try it out.

This "water road" is passable, there are very few "lakes" puddels that dont have sure footing, otherwise you just drive straight through, and there is a spot that damian and i found last week that is an old path that is under about 12"-18" and at times you're up on swamp, and accross rr tracks, this is a cool old trail! I have been down water road and the puddels , skirting around the edges are really no deeper than youe tires are tall if you run 235/85s, well hope to see you all there! it will be a fun day!!

Dean, Peter. Could you give directions to the meeting spot. I can find my way to the NJ Turnpike no problem but after that I get lost real easy. Thanks in advance.

Chris,

On the turnpike, take the 206 exit (I think its exit 7, but maybe 7A), anyway you'll see 206 SOUTH. Go down south for about 1/2 hour and you'll come to a circle at junction with route 70 (there is only one circle on this road).

Note that gas is available south of this point and before we enter the park, and the further south you go the cheaper it gets.

RICK: Its about an hour south of Trenton, on the 206. Check out a map and find route 70, that's where we meet, 10am.

Peter,

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned the pinstriping and flooding LOL!

Umm, I'll probably just grab a sandwich in Wawa, it looks like it could be a long day.

I think that the scratchies will be kept to a minimum, the trails where we're going aren't bad at all, I t will be fun!
Ps you might gat flooded only if you get stuck on the puddle, small chance, your door seals are high, plus the one trail that we will be doing is in swamp, and the slippery spots are in 2-3" of water, but 6" of mud/wet whale shit! this area will be fun! I got through this area last week with mudder tyers, without reallt spinning them!

Have fun!

Oh by the way "LRM" will be covering the event, and possibly writing up an article. Steve Hoare will be riding along with me.

Chris - I dunno what rotary is, but the junction between route 70 and 206, there is only one.
