...if you got stuck with the rear axel deep in water, you might want to check the diff oil to see if it got wet. Mine did. I don't think anyone had extended breathers.

Good point Dean.

I checked mine on Saturday and when I took the rear filler plug out, the oil/water poured out.

Extended breathers on order... now I just got to figure out where to run the ends to.

Jaime,

I got some cheap gear oil and will run this for a week, and take another look next weekend. If its still wet I'll keep doing this, before I put in the mobil 1.

To extend the rear breather, I just got a 1/8 to 3/16 m/m connector, and a roll of polyprop tubing from home depot, attached the two tubes, and poked the other end up through one of the bolt holes in the back seats. You could drill another hole there if you don't wanna remove the bolt.

I didnt get any water in my front diff, and that breather is right behind the engine. So I was thinking of running the lines to the front and coming up behind the engine.

I also noticed there is a hole under the rear door jamb, and a pretty clear channel. So I might look at that as well, maybe come up through that hole, and end up somewhere by the taillights. I think the main issue there would be to make sure that the breather does not get kinked.

Jaime,

So you are saying your diff got filled with water, or just kinda milky with a bit?

Dean,

It was milky, but when I opened the filler plug, it poured out, giving the impression that it was overfilled.

I have a leaky pinion seal that I haven't replaced yet, so I'm sure that some water got sucked in through there as well

Also check your lights for any water. I just failed inspection because my front signal lamp turned into a fishbowl.

Peter

Despite the ridiculous breather line placement on the transmission, I drained the bottom few cc's today and it was crystal clear cherry red, phew.

Not so lucky on the rear diff, but I fixed now.

Yup, that's the one, passenger side, which I find odd, because I had the driver side submerged just as much, and that one was bone dry.
