Has anyone driven from Merida or Yucatan mexico area west on route 180 Mexico thru Cancun then south to Chetumal pick up route 307 south after crossing into Belize then on to Belize City then south on Pan American Highway system etc...to Placencia Belize,also are there gas stations on these roads 180,307, and even bigger question on 180 and 307 do they sell unleaded fuel and if so what are the distances between each gas stop?? If anyone knows where each gas station is on these roads starting from cancun south please post info??? or any other valuable info crime robberies etc general condition of roads in Mexico and Belize south to Placencia Belize???and also any good shops in Belize City etc...? Oh one last thing I have heard that Mexican Police can be a little bit of a bother does this apply to the yucatan area south thru to Belize Border or just for other areas of Mexico,also dont know anything about Belize Police on these roads feedback please in a very broad sense... i have done the route or very close to it twice...gas is prevelant...unleaded, diesel as well. lots of places to stop and eat, sleep. its not dangerous just use common sense. if you have no street smarts then start thinking like a traveler...life is your passport and wallet, etc etc....no how to get out of somewhere faster than you went in...its good to be a little paranoid. but not where it ruins your fun. its great and you will meet many fellow travelers..many who have driving down like you...believe me you are not the only one going down there. re police..best advice obey all posted signs unless its obvious there is no one around and its safe to cruise..you will come upon many animals in the rd as well as other obstacles..trucks hay whatever...but learn some spanish if you dont already know it. and if you dont know spanish then its best to have some pesos or some kind of currency...dont get ripped off here...never over five ten dollars if you have to do it...down there that is a bit of money.... gas stations come and go down there. have a great one |
