Is there any hope for Illinios off roaders?
I heard that a new off road park opened near the Wisconsin border????
Is that lake geneva raceway park open to individuals who pay for the day??? Someone said they have done it.

Chicago Land Rover Club is going into northern Wisconsin in about a week.

Lk. Geneva is pay-for-the-day, but I believe only for groups.

If there's a park near the WI/IL border, it's news to me. WI has (to my knowledge) zero public-land designated OHV areas. The Pipeline is the only area I'm aware of that even is available.

JohnnyK, Thom, others?

I'm originally from SW Michigan, and the answer is "no."

Closest thing to that area is Silver Lake State Park near Hart, MI, up by Muskegon. That's a pretty cool public ORV area in Dunes near Silver Lake and Lake Michigan. You can see everything from Rovers and Jeeps to ATV's and sand rail buggies! Nothing that crazy, except for some hill slopes, but it's a neat area...

There are (to my knowledge) two major ORV areas in Indiana -- Redbird SRA near Dugger, IN and Badlands in Attica. Redbird's public, and Badlands is a private day-use park.

Andrew,

there are no OHV area's in WI ...but there are hundreds and hundreds of miles of Public 2 tracks that criss cross the state and national forest lands. plus there are also huge areas that are state owned and leased to paper companys. All these areas are open to travel as long as they are not gated or burmmed . The vehichle also has to be street legal licensed and insured.

You can call the state offices and ask for open locations . just dont say "Off-roading" or 4 wheeling. both are considered activity not allowed. But yet some of these roads are very difficult to navigate in anything other then a well equipped 4X4.

I am on the management group for Redbird SRA. If you would like an off-season tour, I can take a couple of vehicles with me while patrolling the area. I also own/operate the website,
www.redbirdsra.com

It's Indiana's first state owned OHV facility. Keith, our new member on d-web helped us get it going. Good to see him come to the rover side!

I hope to be joining Chris at the badlands this Saturday. Fixing a tie-rod today. :-(
