Anyone interested in a trip to Clear Creek on Sat. Feb 28th? Clear Creek is about 2 hours south of San Jose, CA.

http://www.ca.blm.gov/hollister/clear_creek_management_area.html

I'll post more details next week.

Sounds like a possibility, Mike. I forgot to swap email addresses at lunch last week, but drop me a note at raywallace333@hotmail.com when you have more details (I only get to Dweb once or twice a week).

I'm definately interested. I'm not sure where Clear Creek is but I'm live in Monterey so it shouldn't be too far from me. How difficult are the trails there? I also have another friend with a Disco that might be interested, I'll talk to him this week.

Shane,

Clear Creek is about 50 miles south of Hollister. We are going to meet at 9 am at the Safeway in Hollister (591 Tres Pinos Rd) and head out from there.

The area consists of mining roads and dirt bike trails. They vary in difficulty. There are enough trails that can satisfy stock trucks as well as heavily modified expedition vehicles. You can skip anything that you don't feel comfortable with.

It is supposed to rain this week, so expect some mud. Make sure you have recovery equipment.

We will be using CB channel 7 and/or FRS 7

Mike,

Thanks for the info. I have an '03 with the 2" OME lift, ARB bar with XD9000 and bfg MT's. I should be fine, hopefully.

My friend may not take his rig out though. He got larger tires but no lift and is worried about rubbing until he gets his lift.

I'll let you know later in the week to expect one or two of us.

My friend is coming with me, but he's riding instead of driving his DII. I do have a dilema though. I just put my 265/75R16's on tonight, man they look sweet. The dilema is the spare rim got lost by FedEx and won't be here until next week. My only spare is the stock 255/55R18 wrangler HP's until the other rim gets here. There's a possibility my friend will let me steal a tire from his truck for a spare just in case.

Shane,

Worst case, bring the small spare and a tire repair kit.
Best case, borrow your friends tire and buy him a beer.

See you on Saturday.

Hey Shane,

I always carry a tire puncture kit with me.... albeit i dont have a pump. so if someone can supply the air... i can fix most "normal" punctures.

BTW: what kind of tires did you get???

looking forward to seeing everyone!!!

My friend, Rob, may let me borrow a tire. But is wife might want the Disco that day. I'll just pick up a tire puncture kit and call it good. I have a small compressor that I'll be bringing with me as well. It's not fast but it does the job.

email me at snwbord24@sbcglobal.net if you want a copy of the group photo from yesterday. I took some with my disposable but haven't gotten them developed yet.

Thanks for the great time, we'll try clear creek another weekend.

Like to tag along on next run. I live in Aptos, (7 miles south east of Santa Cruz)

My 96 Disco is undergoing post purchase repairs and modifications. Expect to be ready mid March.

I just got towed to the dealer today but as soon as I get it back I'm ready to go again.

I was at Hollister today and tried the mudpit, which was not a good idea. I had no idea it was that deep and there's a huge dropoff right at the start. Front end just dropped down and stopped. The rear wheels were still dry but water was about 1/4 way up the front doors. Now the starter won't engage the flywheel. We'll see what the damage is when LR gets to it hopefully Monday.
