Tyler, it was Old Long Run and Dictum. Old Long Run was closed a few months ago due to the land owner on the church side put up a gate on the trail due to he wants to fish for and raise trout. So the Rangers came out and said that the trail had erosion issues that would cost to much to fix plus the added cost of cutting a new portion of trail and closed it. There should be a gate at the other end by now. I know of 3 4x4 clubs that offered time, labor, and money to help the Rangers but, it didn't matter.

If you run Dictum make sure that you are real nice to the land owner on 33 who's driveway you go across. They are great folks and want every one to be able to use the trail but, at the same time if you are rude or tear up their driveway, scare their donkeys, they can gate that as well. I have made it a point to say "Hello" to them if they are outside. I was also with a local clubs Pres. ( J. Borg) when we came through there and he went and knocked on their door and thanked them for letting us use his driveway for access to the trail among other things. Wish that the folks on Second Mountain were as nice.

Ahhh, 2nd Mtn... Something really needs to be done about that issue. The Rangers did strike back on that though. Kindda Funny... The land owners put up a gate, then the Rangers put up a second gate behind thiers. They said the land owners should not have private access to the mountain. Now the land owners are really pissed. Then, to top it off, Officer Alexander caught one of the land owners up there on his 4-wheeler going around the gate. This may make matters worse, but in this case the Ranger station is trying to help, or at least be fair. When the land owners open their gate, the rangers open thiers. Fair enough I guess.

Mr. Mike at Dictum is a really nice guy. The Shenandoah Valley 4-Wheelers will be going up there soon to repair part of his driveway do to water run off, and heavy traffic. If you ever run that trail, try and keep it clean of trash, and take it slow on this property.

Cool. We watched the video at work today and some of the guys had done that trail before it was closed. Too bad looked like a fun trail. The jeepers you kept running into last weekend will be out there doing a trail clean up the 20-21st. Every little bit helps.
