Does anyone have any info about decent trails in the Northern Virginia area? I am hoping for something in the Fredericksburg / Stafford area that I can hit and get the truck a little dirty without making a big, day - long production out of it. Thanks!

There are no leagal trails in that area. GWNF is the closest you got unless you go to a Big Dogs Offroad event...

I was afraid that you might say that, since my search turned up nothing. It was worth a shot though.

Does anyone know of anything south a bit, like towards Richmond?

right around the Thornburg exit, on the left side going South on 95 (right side going north), you can see a bunch of atv trails, and guys always riding around there. No idea about legality or if full-size 4x4s are allowed. Always wanted to pull off and look around there, just never have.

also, if you are military, both Fort Belvoir and Quantico used to have some easy, but fun tank trails. think most of those are blocked off or not allowed anymore though.

and thirdly, I have seen sites (long time ago) about a couple of trails in the Stafford area. might want to check a Gazeteer for any jeep trails in that area.

otherwise, as Eric said, nothing legal.

They have shut down the trails at Thornburg, and now patrol them in the cop Tahoe's.
I will check the Gazeteer for the Stafford action..Thanks!

ahh, thanks for the info. hadn't seen much action around there lately, so that explains why.
